How will NIL look next year if we go 12-22? If its less than this year how will we get better players? I imagine donors will not be excited to contribute to NIL after winning 12 games which essential means Red would be dead man walking. Thats the issue is where does NIL $$ come from after this season
12 wins? Where?

Don’t ask questions. It’s Red’s time. He is the most qualified head coaching candidate in school history. He earned this. Ignore your eyes and all evidence to the contrary. It’s your duty to support him. Buy season tickets. Subscribe to the collective. Eat your dome dogs. Shut up and do as you are told. Everything is fine. Syracuse basketball is in great shape. We just need your money!

Belief without evidence

I see 4 more wins BC, VA Tech, & Cal which puts us at 10-24 for the season. All 3 of those teams are ranked below us in Kenpom. Then maybe we beat Miami or Ga Tech? IDK?
Thanks. Just because teams are ranked behind us in KenPom doesn't mean we can beat or will them. GaT at home next Tuesday but they just beat ND who beat us. Miami is a mess so that's possible. But that's down here in South Florida on the Miami campus in February. Before the season started I had thought about going to that game; have done so before when SU has played down here. But I won't even watch them on TV now (haven't since the Gtown game) so I doubt I will go. But things can change, though I have zero optimism that it will, for this year. And if they keep Autry for a 3rd year despite the evidence, for next year too.

fran’s best business quality is reaching out to donors/alumni and telling them what we need, why, and what happens if we don’t get it. He markets his program to those that will bankroll it if they buy in. We can’t have x if you dont provide y.

Thats not happening in basketball

If I'm reading the tea leaves correctly, Red gets another year because of Team Melo. They will bankroll the program for 2-3 years. I have to imagine there will be strings attached. I really hope Melo isn't liking what he's seeing right now...
I don’t think that’s true. Possible? Maybe. But I think it’s mostly wishful thinking on the part of some fans.

Lol.. I hope your right.. but cuse will fight with BC, VA TECH, CAL AND STANFORD to make acc tourney.. I just never thought I'd see the day where Syracuse basketball would be at the bottom of a conference . My grandfather has to be a sandstorm in his urn, but glad he's not witnessing this mess

Define winning.
The underlying issue within this program as a whole (and the fans frustration) is that barometer either doesn't exist, or moved significantly (which would be worse, IMO).

If Red wins 21 games, and is a 'first team out' next year, is that a success? Is that 'winning'? Was Year 1 a success - this year is an unmitigated disaster.

If JW wants to take this program serious again and be a national contender, he'll need to set a firm benchmark like he did with Babers - do this or you're gone. Some fans disagreed with that decision at the time, fearing it could get worse for football, but look how much better things can be.

It's time to look in the mirror.

I’m repeating myself, but I am expecting JW to take the same approach as he did with Dino. He publicly outlined expectations for Dino and put him on the hot seat. Dino did not meet them and no longer was our football coach. Red will get similar treatment before he is let go.
Does he have to outline expectations for Syracuse Basketball like he did with football? The expectation and standard is tournament team and top 25 perennial. Have we achieved that? No. More importantly, are we trending towards that? As of now, no. It’s not getting highly ranked prospects. It’s preparation and execution which has been lacking which is a coaching issue (how are you getting your players ready to play and make good decisions on the court?) We will lose the positive of getting highly ranked prospects soon if things continue at this rate.

The other night I was out having a drink at a local place and one the assistant coaches was next to me with someone I can only assume to be a donor. They spent most of the time watching the Siena/Cornell game on a phone.

So it’s happening, but probably no where near the degree that HCFB grinds. And I get it, that would be the absolute worst part of the job for me, but probably the most essential.

It’s horrible. But if you can’t excel at that, and you can’t coach well, then what’re we doing?

Or what?

Is that some sort of measuring stick now?
It’s certainly not a measuring stick for a successful season, but it should absolutely be a measuring stick for getting a coach fired immediately.

Because it’s honestly probably not a big problem. We have a roster on paper going into the year that good coaching should have a lot of success with. We have a major preparation and execution issue that more donor money doesn’t necessarily solve.

Doom cycle.

An exciting new hire would likely be able to keep the players we want for next year and the recruiting class together. And who knows what he would even be able to get in the portal. There’s absolutely no reason we couldn’t be a tournament team next year with a new coach.
