Will JB's Thursday press conference be broadcast live anywhere?

Boeheim on resolution for Hopkins' future: "I would hope that it comes quickly."

Boeheim said Hopkins wanted to leave (while looking at past jobs) and that SU would never try "to hold him" here.

I'm curious what he has an issue with them about their reportage...seems they are the best journalists at the Post Standard...maybe he has an issue with their reporting on our scholarships issue and whether we'd be able to bring in Bryant?

Rick Pitino maybe?

Boeheim responded to a Q about recruiting with a wry smile: "Everybody we recruit (says), 'Coach, you only need to be here one year.'"

Boeheim: "There has been a mischaracterization by the constant critics who say, 'All these guys shouldn't be in college.'"

Boeheim: SU has never admitted someone in the basketball program who could not do the work here.

Boeheim: Syracuse has never admitted a player who didn't deserve to be here academically. Students can struggle in class, athlete or not.

Boeheim: "I think there's a little racism involved when they talk about not taking this guy or that guy." Mentions foreigners (like Melo).

That's a reply to the old crank.

Ouch.

And it isn't race, it's a class issue.

Those female athletes for the most part come from suburban middle and upper class backgrounds.

Of course they do better, they are better prepared.

I disagree...he busts Mike's chops but he doesn't hate him or Donna.

Hatred could be too strong or his snarky, sarcasm doesn't come off well. However, it doesnt seem he is best pals with either

I love JB but again the national media is killing him. Bill Simmons and his arrogant Hollywood attitude.

Fin.

Check the daily articles thread later, I'll probably be adding a bunch of articles this afternoon.
Much appreciated, OX- the updates kept me well-informed during my meeting.
Not for nothing... but we really miss Orangeyes on a day like this. ;)

Simmons is absolutely clueless on this one. Clear case of someone with only the most basic knowledge of a situation deciding to chime in, while unfortunately holding a national stage.
Simmons is a clown and one of the last people who should be commenting on this situation

My history with Simmons is something I've talked about way too much in the past. Let's just say that while I still read Grantland, my opinion of him has drastically declined over the years.

Was thinking earlier that the only not as terrible aspect of Dan's passing is that he doesn't have to go through this nonsense like the rest of us.

I've enjoyed Simmons for over a decade now. I still enjoy him. College sports has always been his weakness. And it is a pretty glaring weakness.

If you look at Grantland, you can see that it's still a weakness.

I mainly just have an issue with him because he plagiarized an e-mail I sent him and passed it off as his own idea for a column.

dip, duck, dodge, deflect and rationalize. presser seemed to be more mia innocentia than mea culpa.

I disagree. I think he should drop every bomb available.

Why are you showing a picture of my wife as your avatar...oh wait minute, my wife has blond hair.

I'm not disagreeing with him but I can see the media latching onto something like that and passing over all the other more salient points he made.

As it should be if you're being ramrodded by the NCAA for things that you feel were not in your power to catch, fix, or rectify.

Simmons is on Cowherd now and totally tipped his hand. Really bizarre POV from both

Made some kind of comment that "The best coach spots are Syracuse and Northwestern"...so there go...
Then Cowherd talking how much the media like Boeheim. Really bizarre.

Ramrodded...Bud, is that you??

/sarcasm off

Then you weren't really listening. He took responsiiblity for things but said he has no been fully heard. Also took time to add color to a lot of things which have not been fully reported (i.e. Melo's paper was a 10 pager on his life, 1 basketball player with academic inpropriety, etc). he did a tremndous job and said the right things, as we all would do if your character has been blasted.

Mea culpas don't get you anything when the appeal process has begun.

Cuse!
