Slight correction. I think there may be a few remaining (not me) who believe Autry can be a good coach. He has gotten some good high school recruits but in terms of coaching There is absolutely nothing he has shown to validate this thinking. I would prefer Wildhack acknowledges the mistake and we fix this at the end of the year.Agreed. Thinking Autry will just magically become a good coach is crazy. We're better off just taking the pain and cutting him loose as soon as we can...let’s stop trying to convince ourselves. Everyone can tell he just doesn't have it
Good grief. Making up hypothetical outcomes to support a position is pretty weak. JB sucked for quite a long time. He lost his fair share to crappy teams in his last decade.Boeheim wins this game by 10-15. I don’t want to hear it anymore. The man is in over his head
And you know this how? Because the JB I saw over the last number of years didn't match Red's win total from last year. I guess no one noticed that. And believe me, I am not defending Red. But this idea that Jb was still a good coach at the end is laughable. He should have been gone 5 years earlier and if he had been, we probably wouldn't be in the position we are in now.Boeheim wins this game by 10-15. I don’t want to hear it anymore. But that’s not the issue here. I agree that JB had to go and overstayed his welcome. But as an x’s and o’s coach, there’s no comparisonAnd you know this how? This ND team today without Burton was terribleAre you sure? Here are JB's results vs. Notre Dame since 2016. Just one win by 10 (Osh's sophomore year).

That's true but jb was no guru at the end. His record reflected that. But that’s not the issue here. I agree that JB had to go and overstayed his welcome. But as an x’s and o’s coach, there’s no comparison
I think what people might be responding to--or at least what has me so bummed about this team--is that JB, even in his final years, appeared to have *some* plan. It wasn't a plan people liked, for many reasons, but it looked intentional. Red's lineups, substitutions, offense, and defense are all haphazard. I truly can't figure out what he is doing or trying to do. So little of what he does seems responsive to the game. That's true but jb was no guru at the end. His record reflected that.
Just like Hopkins.Slight correction. I think there may be a few remaining (not me) who believe Autry can be a good coach. He was playing with - his fault - a wounded roster as a result of sanctions and restrictions. That's true but jb was no guru at the end. His record reflected that.
I hope you aren't looking to see me defend what I am watching. The best I can do is that I am willing to give him another year. And that is saying something because unlike a lot of you, I don't have the years to waste. He was playing with - his fault - a wounded roster as a result of sanctions and restrictions.
But we still had a couple good games - lucky to be at Georgia Tech blowouts - and never lost by 30 to schools like unranked Wake.
Autry looked like an 85 year old lost man at the end of this game. That wasn’t a confident 52 year old up and coming D1 coach at a legit P4 hoops program. I really lost faith today.I hope you aren't looking to see me defend what I am watching. The best I can do is that I am willing to give him another year. I don't think even on his last day was even an average coach, he's always been a great coach, the last few years I think he made decisions with his heart and not his head and honestly i don't even fault him for it and as someone who isn't a parent let alone an elderly one, he earned that gift to them and himself.Yup just posted in the post game thread even end stage Boeheim wins that game with the red head playing mop up duty

You’re right and you’re right. My optimism is shot and I feel like a jerk trying to be optimistic. I hate ND and Shrewsberry is a hack. They stabbed me in my heart today!I don't think even on his last day was even an average coach, he's always been a great coach, the last few years I think he made decisions with his heart and not his head and honestly i don't even fault him for it and as someone who isn't a parent let alone an elderly one, he earned that gift to them and himself.
Did it set us back? Maybe, but they got rid of him and could've been figured out by year 2. The roster was turned over except for 2 players hand picked by Red to lead this team, anyone who knows basketball know you wouldn't ever build a team around JJ and Bell, and the rest, that's not on JB.
It's a big big big mess, but it shouldn't be this bad.
Could you imagine a presser with JB as a coach and Lampkin as a center?Nonsense.
Lampkin can't cover the corner three.
What was crazy about Hop was that I watched that dude coach his ass off his first two years. I think the Quade suspension and the team spiraling out of control and pissing off the top ranked local kid killed him and it wasn't even the zone.Just like Hopkins.
I hate all this talk about whether Red deserves another year. Either he can bring this program back to final four caliber or he can’t. If he can’t win with Freeman, Moore and his transfers, he won’t win with Kiyan, White and whatever transfers come.
It’s seems like Red gets a lot of credit for last year that rightly belongs to Judah and Maliq. Or maybe something is different with Red this year, I don’t know, but this year is so much worse than it needs to be. Is anyone confident we make the ACC tournament? (That is an insane question to face as a Syracuse basketball fan).
Red’s a great guy and we all wanted him to be successful, but right now it feels like another year takes us further away from where we want to be and only prolongs the inevitable.
