People are way too caught up on an interview.

Hell I can prob get a phone interview phone interview do any job. Will I get the job or show up at their office in a suit prob not.

If JW calls up Gerry to check in is that an interview? Who cares.

Now if Gerry is on campus pitching JW about how things will be different on the hill next year then yea that’s a waste and I hope it doesn’t get to that.

To summarize Gerry and Hodgson want us more than we want them.

Schertz and Skinn we want them more than they want us.

Tradeoffs with each. I think we need a complete rebrand and someone that can rebound this program from day 1 of his hire
Yeah true what’s it hurt to call up John Daly to gauge his interest right?

I CAN go to any gas station in my town and walk out with a Mountain Dew, that doesn’t mean I SHOULD do it. You see dumb that comparison is? Just because they CAN doesn’t mean they SHOULD nor do said candidate’s DESERVE a call. JW calling GW shows an inept eye of reality and a severe sign of incompetence.

No there’s literally not a single reason to interview or call anyone who doesn’t deserve it or simply shouldn’t based on our circumstances and context. It’s useless it’s a waste of even a millisecond of time.

oh wow really? I mean more power to him but I just cant see it happening. He shouldve thrown his hat back in the ring 3 years ago.
Once he went 15-17 with Nahz Carter, Isaiah Stewart, and Jaden McDaniels it was over for him. His offensive philosophy is worse than Autry’s.

This is a grown man, not an 18 year old kid. It would have been insane to say to Red, never mind how much worse it is to say it to his son.
I understand that. I'm a grown man and occasionally have said some things I've regretted in the heat of the moment as emotions are high. Not often, but there have been times.

so you think jw made his decision in early november, when we showed some promise, and let it leak out?
Every single college basketball fan in the world who has any eye or idea on this program knew red was on the hottest of seats. Some talking heads said he should’ve been canned last year. it doesn’t take a rocket scienstist to figure out.

No trick pony.

Just like another member of the same coaching tree.

“18 year old kid” lol we get it brother the world has to be all bubble wrapped for you, don’t worry he won’t hurt your feelings too.

has nothing to do with the point.

I'm sorry, but can someone recount the precise circumstances of this Hogdson/Autry Jr. thing? I recall there being a very vague, hard to follow recounting of something a month or 2 ago.

And if the response to me is "Apparently Hodgson said Red was going to get fired" that's not clear enough. I'd really like someone who knows the facts to explain the full circumstances before this becomes yet another case of telephone-game board-lore dictating feelings for the next several months.

not talking about coaches.
If the coach was Roger Smith and the player was Sam Smith no one would care. Because it’s a former player and alum people are wound up about it. I just want to win. I don’t care if the coach is an AH as long as he follows the law. It’s like people posting here saying they couldn’t stomach rooting for Hurley.

The coaching is bad. We know this. But George was a poor evaluation. He’s not a good basketball player. It happens. There are plenty of players that appear better than they are in certain situations for whatever reason but aren’t as talented as they seem and come back down to their own mean. You see this happen in drafts all the time…superstar player gets drafted only to reveal he’s actually not a superstar. George is not good. Period. Could Cuse position him better for success? Yes. But he’s not the guy you ever really want to be running your team.

i dont know about the evaluation. last season as a soph george led the acc in assts, made HM all acc, was 4th for most improved player and was regarded as one of the better pg's in the portal. no idea what happened since then. kudo's to those that saw this 9 months ago.

Short version: USF played George Washington earlier this year. Red's kid plays for GW.

It was a high scoring, back and forth game. I think GW won something like 99 to 93 -- something along those lines -- pulling away in the final minutes.

As Autry [the kid] celebrated on the court with his teammates as the game neared the conclusion, Hodgson [salty losing team coach] yelled smack to the kid about his dad not making it past this year at Syracuse.

MY logic at this point. Has the candidate ever spoken to JB or anyone in the coaching tree other than pitino if yes then the answer is NO, Hopkins sucks as a coach we should be able to do better. Red as a better winning percentage in 3 seasons than Hopkins had at washington

Well, you’re missing the part where Trey said some nasty stuff to the coach that provoked the entire dialogue.

Listen. I’ve heard all the speculation that all these decisions were forced upon him and maybe they were. If the chancellor or BOT won’t let him do his job why stay. Especially when they are so clearly epically bad decisions.

Me personally, I would have bounced.
Do you think that coaching situation was anything like any other he has navigated or 99% of the coaching situations other schools navigate?

If you bounce anytime you disagree with superiors at your job, you'll spend a lot of time unemployed. Anyone with tact knows the battles they can pick and the ones you can't.

It's bush league and I'd expect a potential P4 coach to not be so thin skinned he's attacking players' families in the post game handshake line. Says a lot about his character.

"The world has to be bubble wrapped" buddy I'm out there trying to make sure my partner's family isn't getting snatched off the street for being brown, I got bigger things to worry about than what you think of me.
