If we get Calvin, it is in part going to be due to Fran not getting severely outbid. Fran can close the gap when he thinks its worth it because his network will give him the extra cash when Fran pounds the table. They trust Fran because of the other times guys require more money and Fran says, sorry your good not great, EVEN IF HIS NETWORK WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT TO HIM.

We will never will all the battles (frankly nobody does) but when Fran locks in (like Samuel last year or McCord before him), Fran has built the trust factor to get what he needs, when he really needs it.

I have absolutely no inside information, but I do work in a business where large sums of money are entrusted with others and the tie breaker is almost always transparency, trust and honesty. The easist way to break that trust is always be talking your book (boy crying wolf) and thats where Frans 'realness' comes back to us in spades.

What is this network you speak of? It sounds like you're talking about people outside the ring of conventional NIL donors.

This probably isn’t the thread for this, but talking about this on July 4 makes me very optimistic about SU as a whole, especially the big 3 sports.

our football program has been on fire for almost two years, and we’re in the mix for recruits we wouldn’t have imagined in prior years.

Hoops feels like the ship is headed in a much better direction after the best offseason in at least 5 years.

Lacrosse is coming off a final four.

Happy fourth. Hope we get good news tomorrow and have a great year ahead.

Just thinking from the bigger picture, we did not sacrifice Big East basketball to eventually be in the position we are today for being relegated to a second class athletic program by the SEC and Big 10. Everyone I think does see that and there is more motivation than ever to make the investments to ensure we have a landing spot if the ACC breaks up in the next 5 years. Hopefully this is long term consistent investment regardless if in 10 years we are in SEC/Big 10/ACC/Big 12. Let’s strive to be the gold standard northeast division 1 athletic program in the region!

It seems to me that if he is going to one of the big name schools there is no point in making a fuss about it. He is just another 5 star recruit to all of them. By the time he gets to their school he is just another body and nothing special.
