WR Coach Ross Douglas to Oregon

It doesn't seem all that likely we bring in Beard as things stand now. Beard is a Miami Alum and has coached there for a couple years and in the past. Unless he and Crystobal REALLY don't get along, I don't see how he moves to SU for the same WR coaching position without any type of promotion such as an also included co-offensive coordinator role. And no position like that is open at the moment. While I think SU has a very solid WR group with some solid proven production as well as some good looking young unproven players, we do have more questions at QB considering they are bringing in Carson Beck. But...lets hope he and Crystobal don't like each other at all.

Edit: Well I guess the passing game coordinator role that Douglas also had is available. Is that enough?

Look, what I am about to say is made up and more of a carrot than a promise, but if they wanted him and thought they had a shot with him, could they dangle OC-in-waiting, which has more validity given the interest that Jeff Nixon received this off-season? For the record, I don't think I like that play for a number of reasons, including a lack of experience in that role, but...

If Fran really thought he could be the OC here then yes. But I would really guess not. First Michael Johnson has the current Co-OC position. And I doubt OC at SU will be Beard's first OC role. He hasn't even be a co-offensive coordinator yet.

I agree with you, but then I think about Fran himself, a position coach turned first time head coach. I don't really expect it, and I don't love it, but we are living proof of stranger things happening.

Sounds like Beard is one of our top targets. Let's see if the staff can reel him in.
It should be doable if he really doesn't get along with Crystobal. If the addition of passing game coordinator to his title is significant for him and maybe the fact that he gains experience in the Fran Brown coaching tree could be appealing. If so, I'd love to bring him over. Love getting more Florida recruiting connections.

It wouldn't hurt in the recruitment of Calvin Russell.
