Finally some wrestling - I thought this Corbin-Moss feud was finally over at the last PPV.

20 minutes in, and no indication of wrestling yet.

WWE runs way to slowly
AEW runs way to quickly

Both in part due to roster size issues.
Give me more stuff, even if half of it is crap. It’s 2022. I can handle some bad stuff as long as it moves through. I can’t handle boring.

Let's me make it clear that I much prefer the AEW product over the WWE.

But their product, despite still being very good, has been declining in recent cycles because of Tony going with the "More is More" concept (Dynamite has had its worst programming in a while recently, and the last PPV was down in by AEW standards, despite being good). Too many wrestlers -- confusing story development, almost everybody (even strong characters) having their roles diminished or at times in a confusing or rushed role. I'll comment on more specifics in the AEW thread. The wrestling is still great even if a little too spotty. The run-ins abundant and some time confusing.

Tony Khan had a fairly good "Chaotic" balance going back in 2021. Its just a little out of whack right now and his fetish for having every good wrestler in the world in his organization now doesn't help. Trying to cram a bunch of new NJPW wrestlers isn't really helping bring back visibility to some wrestlers and bring some more sense to things.

But still despite all the above, no doubt current AEW is still a very tolerable product. WWE is not..

WWE probably hasn't had the right balance on any of their programs since about 2017 (maybe 2018). For a few years Smackdown was a very good 2 hour program -- stopped being good some years back before the pandemic.

I have given up on WWE TV programming being good anytime soon.

Agreed 100% with all that.

Oh look. Brock Lesnar is back for Roman vs Brock part 532. Yawn

They did better than I thought they would at stretching Roman vs Brock all the way from SummerSlam 2021 to Wrestlemania 2022. They kept it fresher longer than I expected even with some decent stuff leading to WM... giving a fresh coat of paint to Brock probably was the main reason it stayed fresh for as long as it did. but in the end it was still too much and the final match suffered from it. It became overexposed.

Picking it back up now, and so soon, is not good.

You weren't paying attention? Vince 'tore up the script' again this afternoon. Probably forgot the feud was over.

Man, their cupboard is pretty bare..

On the other hand, their cupboard of promotional and product placement commercials is larger than ever.

Re-watched the Vince part. Didn't feel it was any less insane or embarrassing for the company, Vince or the fans.

While blurring the lines with "Mr McMahon" it seemed pretty clear he was trying to give the finger to the board.. "Sell" is probably not even in his vocabulary. Despite being indirect in his message, Vince is no doubt playing the victim card against the board of directors --trying to rally fans onto his side. Sad and embarrassing.

I'm sure many on the board did not approve of this, but Vince still has the control to do what he wants.

In real life this is going to be a corporate mess. Vince will not go away easily.

I guess Goldberg wasn't ready...

Haven’t watched in awhile but would like to get back into it. But Brock vs Roman again? What year is it?

Only way this gets saved is with a Money in the Bank cash in. Even then, I’m not so sure.

I really hope they put the strap on Drew McIntyre when they have the PPV in Wales.
Agreed. The guy deserves the pop that Covid took away from him. Would be extra special being in the UK. Fans would not be happy with Reigns winning clean and keeping both titles which means that’s what probably will happen.

Wouldn’t this be the time to “make” two other guys by having them go against Brock and Roman?
Probably would have been Cody.

Do they try and push Seth against one of them?

I'm no writer but they should have mcintyre win MITB then cash at summerslam but lose. Set up the rematch in Wales where he wins.

Still wouldn't be surprised to see Edge go face again and get pushed into a title picture. Bobby Lashley should also be considered.

WWE still hasn't officially announced that they've released Sasha Banks, but some sites have confirmed it within the locker room and backstage.

Check out what WWE did on their dot com page...

Related to the Sasha incident, I'm on neither Team Sasha or Team WWE.

Started out in favour of Team WWE, that first night -- yes WWE has terrible creative, but Sasha was quite unprofessional that day based on reports, and the upcoming story line for her (lose at the next PPV to the champ) wasn't even that egregious. She also put Naomi into a very tough position.

But rather then lay low on the story and try to work things out in the days following (after all the cancelled RAW match was a RAW match that nobody cared about), WWE stupidly went on the attack over and over... and over... and over... and over, to the point they became clearly the more annoying party in the incident.

I did feel bad for Naomi as I thought she got caught in the middle. Glad that she apparently is back with the WWE because she probably gets lost in the shuffle even at AEW and her husband is in the WWE.

As for Sasha she is a great wrestler with perhaps a bit of an ego issue (maybe not). She will get in some very good matches in AEW. Would not be surprised if she comes back to the WWE with some fresh opportunities and storylines in a few years. So it should be good for the fans in the end. Vince, if he is even around in a few years, will bring back people he had issues with in the past.

McMahon came out on Raw last night to say thank you for continuing to be the longest running episodic television show in history. Then he started pumping up the return of John Cena next week...

Yes.. next week. 20 years of Cena. He has been wrestling in some dark matches recently. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around for a little while.

Seems like if Vince loves Theory that much maybe he will do a program with Cena and Cena will put him over.

Really if Theory is over with the crowd during a program with Cena then he instantly becomes a viable main event title guy.
