Yahoo! Sports - SU Hoops has drug violations

i say we go all berlin circa april 1945 and burn everything damning. The proof is in the pyre.

ah but the snuck in the
“Willful Violators” clause that makes it worth a ****.

Yeah that';s basically the only thing I am worried about. I don't think weed is a big deal, it should probably be legalized (though discussion for another time, I'm sure) but if we were willfully ignoring the policy we created; not the best idea in the world.

Yahoo goes out of their way to drop stories deliberately when it can inflict the most harm on the victims. They dropped the UConn text messaging stuff (BTW, now completely legal) during the 2009 Tournament. I'm sure they had this for months and just waited to strike.

Forde is a Louisville fanboi, so beating them on Sunday probably drove him to publish it right away.

Gonna be some epic JB press conferences upcoming.

My biggest concern is that there are "four sources with intimate knowledge of the Syracuse men’s basketball program" (plus a fifth former player) looking to bring Boeheim and the rest of the team down. No one should really be surprise of alleged positives in the article though.

I'd like to know who all the people who are talking are and what do they have to gain from airing this, even if it is true?

I just don't see it.

Does anyone doubt this is true? I thought most SU bball fans thought this was a given.

Hell, wasn't it weed that got half our team suspended between the end of the BET and the first-round loss to Vermont in 05'?

I was a sophomore that year and definitely remember some "weed-related" rumors going around about why Josh Wright, Louie Mac and others got suspended.

I just don't see it.

See what? It happening, or it being a big deal?

I dunno either way; this whole story could be a load of crap. (Though I have no problem imagining we've had kids who smoked during the season on the team, and we could very well have some right now. Hell, I knew people in college who claimed they smoked with guys on the championship team during final four weekend.)

I don't know much about the particulars of the willful violators policy either, but if we had a policy we put into place and we went out of our way to circumvent it (tm Gob Bluth) then it could be a problem.

I wonder if there are actually any records of this happening. Since it's not NCAA policy, but school policy, who knows what sort of records the University actually kept.

More manufactured controversy over a "drug" that more than half the population thinks should be legal.

Curious how many athletes were punished during prohibition.

Aren't you flaming us on your board? go back there mr. "I got a 1,000 on it and CTO will vouch I'm good for it"

Based on how the Fine thing played out, I'm going to go ahead and assume that's incorrect.
Feel free to assume it's incorrect; but to "go ahead" and assume it is nothing more than empty, wasted words -- truly failing to grasp the English language.

Good day.

This goes on everywhere. It's not a big deal.

Let's just hope they never investigate marijuana use with our lacrosse team.

First, because lacrosse players aren't exactly known for being anti-weed. And second, because I knew some lax players at SU. Lax players party more than any other athletes I've ever been around.

We have been through a lot worse. This year!. Nothing will come of this. Just a lot of angst. Now, if a story about boosters were to come around, that would be a problem.

What are the chances this makes us vacate our 2003 NC?
