Your Ideal ACC expansion

Would it? Teams #2-#14 aren't all that different. The order each season flips pretty often. So it should relatively even out in the end. FSU is 4-5 seasons away from being good again and that would depend greatly on who they hire as their next HC. By then Dabo might be gone (NFL or Bama) and Clemson will be due to fall back some.

Let's say the FB only TV value is $250M, if you went with the below would it be a big deal?

Division
1st place $26M
2nd $19M
3rd $18M
4th $17M
5th $16M
6th $15M
7th $14M

So the 1st place team gets about $8M more than even distribution and the last place team gets about $3.75M less.

Except that it won't be based on who wins; teams will argue that who draws the best ratings deserve the most money.

That's how they have done it in La Liga in soccer (Spanish national league), and so it has become a self-perpetuating system where two teams have all the money, all the best players, and one of them wins the championship every year.

So if the key is making Clempson and FSU happy enough so they don't have reason to move on why don't we either contract 2 teams (WF and BC) or just reduce shares from the other teams and buff Clempsons and FSUs take? If the potential future is the league being cannibalized because the top two football teams are a flight risk and then a ripple effect exodus, then bump their shares if ESPN is not giving us more. For the bump, have them sign an updated GOR.

If the SEC goes to 20 teams, that will be the end of college football. There will only be one league that matters, one league that produces the playoff teams. Nobody else will matter. Nobody else will ever win a title.

It would still be based on how good your team is. ESPN is not going to put last placed Clemson on their network very often. Clemson needs to be good to be the game they chose.

No one is interested in a League of CFB that is comprised only of an SEC and a B1G.

If it is 54 teams they would. That is what we have today minus a dozen crappy programs (65 P5 currently).

Then it’s not the SEC and the B1G anymore.

The SEC apparently thinks so.

Until Atletico Madrid won the championship this year

My ideal expansion would be something that got us another men's lacrosse team. I recognize that doesn't make business sense, but "ideal" was the question.

Until Atletico Madrid won the championship this year

Yes, maybe once a decade another team wins the title, just like in Germany with Bayern Munich.

The SEC should invite in ALL D1 schools and then run the whole college football scene and tell the NCAA to kick rocks

This guy is claiming he has an inside source that ND and WV are finally joining the ACC. When pressed about his sources he says reliable, “ACC coaching staff members reliable”. He has a decent following so this is a pretty bold prediction. Just hearsay obviously but interesting.

I guess the WV Assistant Director for Rifle Team Recruiting qualifies as an “ACC coaching staff member".

Lol, fair point. Normally I wouldn’t even share something like this but his following made me think there might be a sliver of a chance it’s credible. Who knows though, time will tell.

If anything…. This guy is fantastic, I’ve been to two games at WVU and this dude is spot on to their fandom.

What does the Big12 do then? They could go after a large wealthy market that is greatly underserved in the most popular sport in America.

So… no Duke, Wake or WVU. Who else is missing?
Don't try to encourage SEC and B1G tear apart ACC and absorb ACC schools. The most likely leftover are not Duke, Wake and WVU. Most likely Syracuse, Wake and WVU. I think BC and Syracuse are fighting for the last spot to stay on P5 now. If our football program can climb up in the next five years or maintain this year's level, then that risk will subdue. But right now we should root for PAC12, ACC, B1G alliance works and put the expansion on hold. Let Big12 and G5 conferences do their own realignment.

Unless this is true and the ACC is getting Notre Dame and WVU

Notre Dame alone would generate huge money contracts with TV

ESPN would cream to take ND away from from NBC

Notre Dame will never give up their football independence status. They have exclusive right with NBC. That puts them on NBC every Saturday.

On saturdays

and Notre Dame got angry at NBC this year for putting their home opener on peacock

Syracuse will always be in P5 IMO They would need to really trim down the P5 number to be left out. Cuse is obviously the bottom half, maybe even bottom 1/4, but not the last few in. It’s all about $$ and Cuse brings too many eyes to the TV in what is considered a desirable geographic area.
