Well, maybe this will encourage Filardi to focus on lacrosse, doing Gait a favor… haha In all fairness, he should have looked even worse than he did. How many reps with the #1s has he gotten? 3 days? I think this is a move best made after a bye week and to just let him have a series to get his feet wet.
It should have been Carney in Q1, Collins in relief after Carney got at least 10 passes… and then of Collins also failed, give Filardi playing time.
But no matter who plays, the lack of screens, bubble screens, jet runs, etc. is appalling. Other teams are doing it to us to negate our pressure. Why not get the ball in the hands of our skilled guys anyway we can???????
Defense is what it is. We cannot tackle reliably. We lack speed on both sides of the ball, but defense in particular. I think our defensive TD was the longest run to the end zone we have had. Our best tackling game was Clemson by far… and our best defensive result IMHO.
Finally… Colgate has a better backup than we do. They had two different QBs move the ball against us… with all that talent gap. That is pretty sad. But it also has to do with the Colgate coaches calling good plays relative to their skill set, the team around them, our defense, and circumstances.
