Your starting to see Fran and his assistants get exposed for a lack

Would like to see DART go.

I think things like DART are dumb but most coaches have them. I do see a purpose when trying to build a culture. But once that culture is established, there is no use for them.

Starting the 4th Q with the DART video just makes me laugh knowing that none of those are true about the team and staff.
It is kind of cheesy but just coach speak. It just kind of goes along with “we want to play a tough physical brand of football”. They all say it, most don’t see it through or do it well enough where it separates you from an opponent.

I remember a while ago they used to run a promotion in the 4th quarter for the car wash sponsor and they would read the copy over the PA. "When the Orange are finished cleaning up their opponent, head down to xyz car wash to clean your vehicle." It was embarrassing. I told them so in a post-season survey.

If we see major changes in the staff we'll know if Fran's the man.
Urban Meyer claimed to never higher a friend so it would be easier to fire coaches if they didn't work out.
Fran having his BFF as the DC is concerning. To this date we have held only Holy Cross and one other team to under 20 points. The BFF and a lot of others need to be replaced.

The decibel meter in the 4th. First of all it’s fake, it’s just a tool to get the crowd loud and pumped up. It’s amazing how we still seem to get it to the same decibel when we’re down 20 and there is only 11 people left in the building.

There are some things they should pull from the menu when we’re losing. It’s embarrassing.

It’s what needs to happen for sure. I’m concerned with then lack of adjustment on offense once Angeli got hurt. They need a new o line coach and a complete overhaul on the defensive side.

Right now they simply can’t win a football game with what they are running out every weekend. the Collins situation is what lead to it, one would hope even a miss would at least get you an adequate back up capable of a couple wins, but clearly not the case which leaves the staff throwing Hail Marys like starting a true freshman long stick defender from Long Island at qb. Was never going to end well

Well, maybe this will encourage Filardi to focus on lacrosse, doing Gait a favor… haha In all fairness, he should have looked even worse than he did. How many reps with the #1s has he gotten? 3 days? I think this is a move best made after a bye week and to just let him have a series to get his feet wet.

It should have been Carney in Q1, Collins in relief after Carney got at least 10 passes… and then of Collins also failed, give Filardi playing time.

But no matter who plays, the lack of screens, bubble screens, jet runs, etc. is appalling. Other teams are doing it to us to negate our pressure. Why not get the ball in the hands of our skilled guys anyway we can???????

Defense is what it is. We cannot tackle reliably. We lack speed on both sides of the ball, but defense in particular. I think our defensive TD was the longest run to the end zone we have had. Our best tackling game was Clemson by far… and our best defensive result IMHO.

Finally… Colgate has a better backup than we do. They had two different QBs move the ball against us… with all that talent gap. That is pretty sad. But it also has to do with the Colgate coaches calling good plays relative to their skill set, the team around them, our defense, and circumstances.

Ha ha! certainly no apologies but not surprised and not walking anything back. Just don’t care for the schtick but most importantly I don’t think most coaches on this staff or Fran can truly coach. Recruit? Sure but they need a serious shake up on the assistant side this off season. I think Fran needs to start over…hire better coaches first and recruiters 2nd. Fran can recruit for the program.

Losing a starting qb is tough but what we are seeing now is beyond pathetic. Don't think Fran was prepared to deal with any of it but this is probably good for his very healthy ego to take a kick or two. It is possible to stay competitive with a 2nd string QB, it’s been done before I think? Call me crazy.

Next year we shall see if he can bounce back. DART!

People are already for calling for Fran to just be the CEO! That’s step one of fan reaction that your head coach isn’t a very good coach. I understand the guy can recruit but next year should tell the whole story on Fran
For some reason i can’t think of anytime they’ve had to go to the backup the ship held together. It certainly happens at other schools, but not Syracuse, and we’re certainly accustomed to that. Who’s our best back up ever? Zac Mahoney? Maybe freshman year Tommy Devito? Losing Angeli certainly ruined the season, but they were going to have to win in shootout style almost every game. I think we had the horses to do so, but it still would have been tough. I don’t want my prediction of 3 season wins to come true after Steve went down, but i think that’s inevitable . It’s going to be GRob era programming these last 3 weeks. Will be interesting to see how the DART culture holds up.

I’m reading it as a message to Rickie that your time here is done.

what’s the other one he uses? CTE or something?

He should be DART enough to honor his word that ERob wouldn’t be here long.

Talent evaluation of coaches and players is a huge part of running a successful program. If Fran doesn't address the lack of talent in both areas his recruiting will take a hit too. A good leader surrounds himself with guys smarter than he is.
The honeymoon is officially over for Fran.

One thing to keep in mind. Dale Williams is not a Fran guy, he's a Nixon guy. Nixon was in demand last offseason. If Nixon goes, Williams no longer has cover and it will be much easier for Fran to replace him.

I agree — we aren’t scheming enough, but we also have a lot of transfers who just haven’t hit yet. Most of the defensive line we brought in isn’t performing at the level we need. On the offensive line, the guys are too big and can’t move in space; they struggle to create holes consistently throughout a whole game. Right now, we just run up the middle every time.I don’t think we have enough developed talent compared to other teams. This roster is a mix of transfers, young freshmen, and returning players, and the trenches are really costing us. We can’t generate push on either side of the ball when it matters most.Another thing people forget is that we brought in 35 true freshmen — of course they won’t be perfect, and mistakes are going to happen. These guys will learn and improve next year. This schedule has been brutal, and losing our starting quarterback didn’t help. That said, if we can hold on to core guys like Cook, Gill, Willis, Samuels, Antoine, Byron, and a few others, and combine them with the elite 2026 class coming in, we’ll be much better. Right now, the future might not look bright, but there’s reason to be optimistic if we stay realistic and patient.”*

So here is the interesting thing with Jeff Nixon. It’s becoming clear to me that Fran and him are just not on the same page and this stems back from this summer, well before Angeli got hurt. Nixon I think will be gone, perhaps a different primary reason now than before. See before, it was because he was getting a higher profile job. Now, it’s that I think his relationship with Fran is toxic. Two main reasons that I think their relationship has turned toxic. First, Fran the entire summer seemed worried in press conferences, he kept mentioning how we need to adjust things to the players that we have, we can’t be too much like last year, and I think that message was especially for offense. We got a groove with Angeli once it became clear that we need to work the middle of the field. McCord strength was working the sidelines. The second reason is Yasin Willis, don’t need to go into more details, but they clearly disagree on how to use him. I know they go far pretty far back (Baylor). Maybe they are on the same page and know this is a lost cause until they get another serviceable QB in the portal. But it might be best for Nixon to move on to a program where he has enough QBs to work with and do what he does best and for Fran to move on to an OC that is more flexible in philosophy. If Nixon left, we will find out how much our offensive recruiting Nixon really had a hand in. The more interesting conversation is how Fran handles the defensive side of the ball which needs to step up if we can’t rely on elite offensive play. Fran’s most important job right now is to maintain trust with the largest boosters. If he can do that, he will be able to have a product that the fan base will be willing to trust again.

It’s so weird, they came in with no experience in their current roles… and it’s showing? We were willing to bet on Fran. Last year he had so much fall into his lap. I feel like the “learning the job” part didn't really start until this season. Yes this is an abysmal season and I will turn off all reasonable thought during the game by my lord people.

Let’s just ask tHe OhIo StAtE which QB they hate the most and take that guy.

just amazing that nobody on staff and at practice all those months ever noticed that the spare tire in the trunk was not only flat , but square and doesn't even fit our vehicle.

gonna be one helluva bumpy ride the rest of this journey !

this is why i always want the head coach to be an offensive guy. we're never going to be consistently good on defense so have the coaching turnover there. but we went with a defensive guy who isn't really good at coaching

We went with a lifetime position coach who is a great recruiter who was never a coordinator. He can’t coordinate either side of the ball. It was and is a huge gamble. I just wish he hired some crusty old defensive coordinator like that Rocky dude that Dino did. When it comes to the back up QB, they should have made sure they got a kid that can throw the football even if he’s a statue. Go get some kid from some smaller program even if he’s a some D2 or a great d3 kid who has thrown for a ton of yards, probably he’s a 5th year senior and 23 years old but at least he can throw the ball and he didn’t just get his night license 2 months ago. Kid gets a masters degree and we at least have a kid that can complete a forward pass. Nixon’s offense is pass 45 times a game have a back up plan. they did not

Great point. D2 guy who would be satisfied to get one year in a P4 program for the experience and atmosphere and possible chance to play if an injury occurs to QB1. Kind of kid who will work hard in the system and be a grinder. Would have to be a special kind of person, but they are out there.

It would have at least been entertaining!

Look I spent 4 years in the service few places in the states , spent some time in Europe nice ti visit wouldn't live there spent 3 weeks traveling around the country in 1984 to bowl 2 days in Reno. Been to a number of different cities in National bowling tournaments. The only place outside of here that I would like to live is Corpus Cristy in Texas. Went to a national bowling tournament there and a lot of the people who ran the tournament came from upstate ny.

Agree that the HC and OC haven’t been on the same page for months. And for whatever reason, the HC has been reluctant to pull rank and tell the OC what he wants to be done.

It’s very weird and very disconcerting.
