I don't know what fantasy business world some of you are living in, but public announcements are made before finalized contracts are signed all the time.

And let's inject a small dose of reality into this... if an SEC school came calling while Arnett still had the pen in his hand from signing a contract, he still might leave.

Yeah, this guy was likely not staying long. He jumped ship in seconds for an SEC bottom feeder.

gotta get comfortable with the fact that no one is staying long. If we suck, they get fired, if we are good, it's on to the money. The board has way too many hard feelings for a line of work that offers no promises from or for anyone.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University matched another school’s contract offer in a last-ditch effort to retain defensive coordinator Zach Arnett, according to athletic director John Wildhack.

Arnett, who was hired by the university 11 days ago, reneged on his agreement with SU by accepting an offer from Mississippi State on Wednesday afternoon.

Wildhack said Arnett signed an offer sheet with the university.

Wildhack said SU then increased its offer to match Mississippi State’s new offer, but Arnett decided to leave anyway.

Syracuse refused to release the financials of its counteroffer to Arnett.

Mississippi State did not immediately respond to a request for the terms of Arnett’s new contract.

According to the PS, SU matched MSU’s offer and he still left.
Then we should've doubled whatever MSU was going to pay. He'd only be here 1 year anyway.

This is what the forum does; we wring our hands, clutch our pearls, and make H0T Takes all in the name of trying to make sense out of an insane situation. It is what it is...but amidst the chaos, we look for pearls of wisdom from those who “know” things, we are talked back from the ledge by others, and we get some measure of catharsis by venting. If not, we’ll that’s why there is alcohol.
You can have your alcohol man. That s#*÷ ain't cuttin' it.

But it clearly was not about the money this time.
People have problems with him leaving for whatever reason (not money).
Sure he might have only been here a few years and left for big bucks or HC job, I would have been fine with that.
