Judge on pace for 81 HR season. :)

Dumass Jays announcers kept talking about how no one can keep up that pace, just wouldn't let it go. Shulman is usually okay, but Buck Martinez natters incessantly.

If I had been listening to the Jays broadcast, I wouldn't have understood them anyways...I don't speak/understand Canadian.

Aaron Judge isn't just hitting, he's fielding well too. It's early and the sample is small, but Judge ranks tied for 3rd in MLB with 6 Defensive Runs Saved. The only outfielder better is Rays centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier with 7.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer
Aaron Judge has 13 home runs in 88 at-bats. In his first two years at Fresno State he hit six homers in 388 at-bats. Perfect example of why baseball needs to find and sign multi-sport athletes like Judge was and give them time to develop their baseball skills.

ESPN Stats and Information
Aaron Judge is lighting it up for the Yankees. After his home run Wednesday, he has the most homers in the first 25 games by a rookie in MLB history.

Forget Rookie of the Year, Aaron Judge is an MVP candidate

Teams are already starting to pitch around him. His plate discipline has been excellent so far. They were showing last night how far away from the plate he stands so pitching him high and tight isn't that effective. And he is able to reach out across the plate with his long arms if they pitch him outside. Let's hope he stays patient and Sanchez and Bird protect him.

Absolutely impressive. I think he drew three walks the other night. This guy is more than a HR hitter.

Yep, noticed that. Decent eye for the strike zone.

The impressive thing is that he made adjustments to correct his 50% strikeout rate from last year. Not a lot of veteran players could do that, let alone a rookie...

Judge and Sanchez are very impressive and patient hitters given their experience, and neither go up there looking to pull the ball or hit one out. Bird also has a nice approach and should be fine once he returns. If these three can stay healthy, we're in for a nice ride.

What is scary is this team is pretty good now...can't wait to see how this team looks after a year or two of experience along with some additions, *clears throat* Harper *clears throat* Machado, to include SPs.

A center-field fix for the Nats? It's time to make these trades

Oakland A's trade 1B Yonder Alonso to New York Yankees

First base across the American League has been a disaster so far, with the Yankees, Mariners, Rangers, Twins, Angels, Indians and Royals all receiving poor production. No team has been worse than the Yankees with a .143/.257/.242 line, mostly thanks to Greg Bird's 6-for-60 start. Bird is currently on the DL with a bruised ankle and while Brian Cashman shot down the idea of sending Bird down to Triple-A, the Yankees look good and acquiring a short-term fix for first base makes sense. There's nothing wrong with having Bird, who missed 2016 after shoulder surgery, polish his game in Triple-A.

Alonso, a career mediocrity, is a new hitter in 2017. He's one of those guys who changed his swing to improve his launch angle, and his fly ball rate has gone up from 30 percent to 47 percent, and he already has hit six home runs after hitting seven in all of 2016. He's a free agent after the season, so he wouldn't be a roadblock to Bird in 2018. The Yankees have a deep system, but Alonso wouldn't cost one of the top prospects.

-------------------------------------------------------

Wouldn't do it...not worth any prospect. Potential injury to Bird is why NYY got Carter...

ESPN Stats and Information
After missing the last 21 games with a strained biceps, Gary Sánchez is expected to return for the Yankees on Friday vs. the Cubs. Thanks in large part to Aaron Judge, New York hasn't missed a beat without Sánchez.
