2019 Coaching Carousel

Former SU RB Terry Richardson was the Ass't Head Football Coach and Running Game Coordinator for Miss. State. Might be nice to bring him back into the fold:

Here's another coach who will be in demand, and who has strong east coast roots. Plus as HC at Fordham, I'm sure he has loads of HS connections. Let's try to get him before Shady does:

To be honest, I wouldn’t have minded having Joe Moorhead as our Head Coach. I love Dino but not sure how long we can sustain success with weak recruiting and a gimmick system.
I hate saying that about Coach Babers. I just hope we don’t end up wasting another few years only to hit the reset button once again.
Moorhead seems like he would be more pro style. More balanced. Able to recruit this area better.

No. The circumstances of his firing suggest that they HAD to fire him as opposed to wanting to fire him. We'll find out soon enough, but I don't see this as some Machiavellian plan to wait until after Signing Day to fire him.

Well, he DOES have the coaching gene...
Yes. But he changed the picture on his twitter page to a picture that Cortana says is Barra, Brazil. Got me.

And a copy of Invictus in the header also.

If an Oklahoma State OC is leaving for Rutgers, one must wonder whether someone slipped drugs into his beverage. I may not like OKieState U, but seriously, unless he is getting HC money to be OC at Rutgers for 10 years guaranteed, why risk leaving a program that wants you?

Chasing money is not always a good thing.

He’s from Jersey and can’t run his own offense at Ok St. He gets big 10 salary and full autonomy at Rutgers.

...and there are no better opportunities? If he is in demand, he should have better opportunities.

Besides, the article indicated OKState was trying to keep him. There is no upside to choosing Rutgers. The rebuild will be long and arduous (assuming it works and he is given time and recruits), Rutgers will be lucky to break even, more likely to not even get to .500, Schiano has serious ethics issues, the list goes no.

Anyway, if he's happy and doesn't mind a seriously large mark on his resume, so be it.

Minnesota's OC was poached by Penn State on 12/26. Quick turnaround while prepping for and playing in a bowl.
Remember when we couldn’t even get this guy to interview for our HC position? What a joke.

They'll recruit better than us

His staff is being filled with top notch recruiters, and decent coaches

Ok ... Begin argument now

I remember being told Rutgers won’t impact us at all. Especially in recruiting.

From what I read on Twitter from the Oklahoma State fan base, they were fine letting him go and had someone already ready to come in and take the OC role. Is it true? Who know? But many seem to believe so.

I don’t know what to tell you. Ok St tried to keep him because he’s a good coach. Rutgers wanted him because he’s a good coach and he’s a Jersey native. They can pay more, his wife is also from Jersey and it’s not Oklahoma.

You say there is no upside but at the end of the day he took it right? So in his calculus there had to be some material elements to the offer that he liked. Kinda hard to argue that point isn’t it? Second there is no such thing as a large mark on your resume unless you have been unprofessional or unethical. Everything else is an experience that in theory makes you better in the end if you can harness what you have learned both positive and negative. This sounds more like Rutgers bashing than anything else. Do you think his wife looks through the same Orange colored lens whose family was from Jersey? Probably not. Either way...(shrugging) it is what it is.

Spot on. Multple P5 programs were after him. Miami had serious interest and tried hard to get him. Gundy tried everything he could come up with to get him to stay at Ok St...

Yep, quite simple. RB coach at a MAC school with a 2-year record of 9-16 to the HC of a P5 school.

Simple. Makes total sense.
* Makes total FINANCIAL sense
