No. I don't like Thibs as I have stated time after time. He will do more bad than good long term. When the coach want's to be the biggest star on the team it's a problem.
 
Also anybody notice how bad the Mavericks are playing this year. If things continue go bad for them and they finish with not even the worse 3 records but maybe 6 or 7 range their lottery balls could bounce and get number 1 and that pick goes to us.

Like any sport (minus stupid baseball contracts) good organizations build a baseline of talent and support and winning culture, making them an inviting place for the bigger free agents to want to play.

Players have run far away from the Knicks in general because the place was just so toxic. This is the right approach. Donnie Walsh did it too til Dolan blew it up.

Quickley and Barrett might be 2/3s of the puzzle...
 
Thibs proves, over and over again, that he’s great at raising the floor of a team. Doing it again with us.

Young guys will work at defense (have you seen where we are ranked defensively!?!?). Be competent. There won’t be a tankathon ruining the culture.

IQ being a legit prospect is a gold mine for the Knicks. You have to hit on mid to late first round picks to compete. I still think the Toppin pick was bad.

Re the Mavs pick - I still think they bounce back but they have been decimated by Covid (Wizards only team hit harder), KP’s injury and they were just going through a gnarly road trip. Give it ten more games or so before you let yourself start thinking we may get something there.

Also, for all those that don’t understand still, this is the backpage of the daily news the same day after the Nets dropped 145. #KnicksTape

Entertaining 1st half watching the Knicks go toe-to-toe with LAC.
No minutes for Knox -interesting. An enigma for sure, and Obi not a factor today.
Too early for me to consider Obi a bust though.
Then there's Frank buried on the bench. Some tough drafts for the Knicks.
Need to mine more Draft Diamonds like IQ!
 
Poor shooting and some lax D at times last night-
Though Knicks made a nice comeback to set up the W -then more misses and Randle's T/O.
#9 pick Knox has now joined #8 pick Ntilikina buried deep on the bench. What a waste.
Just hope #8 pick Obi proves to be a solid pick.
Robinson is good for a 2nd round pick, but will his development = LT solid center for Knicks?
Rivers seems to either be Superman or The Shadow so far.

Yet some encouraging play/more fun watching than recent years -if the Knicks had better recent drafts, we might already have the players needed to compliment Randle, Barrett and IQ!

Porzingas for Smith and this years 1 and a protected 1 in 2 years...looks pretty bad right now.

All kidding aside, I didn't like the Toppin pick at the time, but have to give them credit for IQ. You need to have a competent PG and he's fun to watch. Would expect a nice jump from 1st to 2nd season from him.

Want to see the guys in the G-League (Kuminga, Green... Nix, but I can't imagine we're grabbing a PG outside of if we land #1 and want to grab Cade).

Honestly, just being able to watch a full game and say "that is a professional nba team" has been enjoyable.

I don't think Thibs is the long term answer, but I think he's the guy that gets us to the next step.

And that's not a knock against Thibs, taking on this job and raising us up out of the muck is a herculean effort.
 
Agree 100% -
Knicks let me down last night, but have watched more Knicks games than I have in many years.
Fun to watch and study the young/developing players like IQ and imagine Good Things Ahead!

All while trying not to think about Ntilikina, Knox, Smith... and possibility Obi joins them!
