Legitimately awesome to see. Good for him and them.

So basically, NC matched the best offer.
It's known as "benching". Coaches have been letting players know they lack a future with the team for a very long time and they have transferred. The difference now is that everyone knows about it because of the Portal and they can play immediately with the end of the sit-out rule. The latter is the real reason why there are so many transfers. If people still had to sit for a year, I doubt we'd have 5% of the number of transfers that we have now.The college transfer “rules” (really there aren’t any) are far looser than US professional sports or even the former paragon of free agency/highest bidder, the English Premier League. In those instances players at least have to abide by their contracts, and can’t walk during the season.
If players feel entitled to explore new opportunities, why shouldn’t programs be able to “waive” underperformers? Maybe that’s already happening in effect.
Maybe players need to be under contract just like coaches.

You get the scholarship and NIL. I’m looking more at the players like Maye and Addison (Pitt to USC), and players who have a good year at say SU or Wake or Vanderbilt and then offer themselves to the highest bidder.devils advocate.
what do I get in return for signing the contract?
if your school makes me sign that contract, I’ll go to another school that doesn’t.

Personality of the players?DB's have 4 spots and OL 5 and yet they almost double them...interesting.
No Leary, No Carter, probably losing their good LB's. Wish we played them next year.
