2022 Mets thread

I was on the Beer Deck at NBT last Tuesday, watching the game with a friend. Below us was Nick Plumer, who just did this:

That was awesome to watch. First hit is a homer to extend the game in bottom of the 9th.

Another game well executed. Smiths xray negative as well so hopefully he isn't down too long after reseting pinky.

Given the grueling stretch coming if we could beat up the Nats as well gives us a nice buffer if they slip a bit with a brutal road trip.

Definitely needed that win. First sweep of the year and tied for longest winning streak at 3. Let’s keep it going against the Nats. We need every win possible before the daunting road trip coming up.

You're right. It was the first sweep of the year. 32-17 and an 8 1/2 lead with just one sweep. The importance of winning series comes through, (we are 13-2-1 in series). And without Degrom, and recently Scherzer!

Batting practice tonight holy smokes. Plummer looking good along with what seems like everybody right now.

We may have our first four game winning streak. It's amazing that we haven't really had a significant winning streak yet and we are 32-17 and 8 1/2 game s up.

We're also scoring runs like mad: 61 in our last 6 1/3 games. Pitchers win more often than hitters so pitching is more likely to make you a contender than hitting: it's something you can do more consistently well over the course of a season. But hot streaks and cold streaks are about scoring runs and we're doing it.

Gotta wonder if Fedde was tipping, guy shut out the Dodgers in his last start. But wow the Mets got it going this year.

This hot streak couldn't have come at a better time either. Hold serve and when things normalize we see deGrom and Max back to take command.

If they can sit still 7-10 games out in front in the NL East after the CA road trip things look really good going forward. Maybe even so much to take all the time needed for Max and Jacob

71 runs in 8 games. Hard to beat that, especially when a fill-in starter gets us our 8th shut out.
Feeling much better about this road trip now that we have padded the division lead a bit.

Yeah same here. Don't want to jinx it but with all the trade rumors the Nats look like a dead fish out there. Good chance to sweep and add to that buffer.

Props to Trevor Williams, who pitched 5 scoreless innings last night. His ERA is now down to 3.58. Guessing he has solidified his spot as the fifth starter. At least until Tylor Megill returns, which sounds like it will happen by mid June.

Great to see Drew Smith pitching again so quickly. And pitching well too.

Kind of shocking to see Dom Smith get sent down but roster space is tight and he just can't find his way out of this slump. Looks like we Syracuse fans are going to see a lot of him for a while. It gives him a chance to showcase his skills. If he plays well here, it will increase his value and might well drive the Mets to finally trade him.

Could be a heck of a summer with possible rehab appearances from players like Tylor Megill, Trevor May, James McCann, Travis Jankowski, Max Scherzer and Jacob DeGrom coming soon. Joey Lucchesi might also pop up late.

With Smith gone, I am guessing we will see JD Davis get a lot of the DH at bats. But with the way Luis Guillorme is hitting, you need to find a way to get him a lot of at bats too.

Sounds like Buck is trying hard to keep everyone healthy, giving rest to a banged up McNeil and letting Brandon heal up his ailing wrist the last few days.

Patrick Corbin, the second most famous athlete out of CNS, has really had a big fall in the last couple of years. He gave up 7 earned runs and 12 hits in 4 1/3 innings to bring his ERA up to 6.96. Ouch. He might also be headed to the minors soon. Or worse. Still throws 93 or 94 mph. Still has a good slider. But he made a lot of bad pitches.

It's been an interesting year. I feel like vs the Mets a lot of teams have done an awful job with their shifts. Guys are making good contact playing small ball but also it's been too easy as well.

Guillorme has been something else. He looks down a few pounds and in good shape. His approach at the plate is better than just a guy on a hot streak. At 27 he could do great things and hope he keeps getting the opportunities.

What a solid off season it's looking like so far with the production from Marte and Canha. Escobar coming around as well- he's been making good contact just not dropping.

Looking forward to seeing them go up against the Cali Boys. They do well with this current rotation and wow- gotta start thinking this team is really special..

Agree, it looks like the Mets are one of the new teams that pretty regularly take advantage of the shifts on their hitters to get easy hits going the opposite way. McNeil has been great at it, as has Nimmo. Guillorme is very good at it as well.

Lindor is going opposite field a lot more this year. And Polar Bear is taking the ball to right field a lot in key RBI situations as well.

A lot of great situational hitting. I am not sure how much Eric Chavez, the new Mets hitting coach, is responsible for this, or how much Buck is driving this.; Would not be surprised if a lot of this is being driven by the players themselves. The announcers and players can't stop talking about how good the clubhouse is and how much veteran leadership is helping this team.

8 shutouts in the first 2 months of the season. With DeGrom out the whole way. What a crazy season so far.

When Dom gets called back up I'd advise him to hit a couple of home runs right off the bat. It catches the manager's attention.

Sweep it is. Nido has himself a game as everyone else is a little down. Another shutout.

Even if they go 0-10 on this road trip, they will still be in first place in the division. Couldn’t be happier about this amazing start.

Another rough outing vs Dodgers pitching.

The bats we're using:
