Agreed on everything except that Quadir isn't suited to play PG. I think he'll take a huge leap, and will demonstrate great playmaking, vision, passing, craftiness etc and he'll be awesome on the drive and kick, and will add really good finishing at the rim too so the defender won't just think he's passing every time he drives. On m2m defense he can match up with whoever is appropriate, he's good in the press, and he'd be great at the top of the zone for the instances where Red will play zone, which will happen if he has the personnel.

With that said, I would gladly take a great transfer pg this year if Judah doesn't come back and start Chance at the 3, but I wouldn't sleep on Q as backup pg this year and starting as an upperclassman.
If Q can’t figure out how to be a backup PG than he’s in a really tough spot to see playing time because his shooting isn’t up to the standard required for high major D1 basketball.

We have little idea what Red will do, so most of this is guessing. Here is another guess:

Based on what Red has said, we will play multiple defenses to suit the talent on the roster. This does not rule out playing zone at times. The "3 guard offense" has never been mentioned specifically by Red (I think). I would tend to think he would like to play an aggressive, pressure man defense with players that are capable of defending multiple positions. This could get players like Judah and JJ and Chance on the floor at the same time, but not primarily with the intent of a 3 guard offense. The intent would be defensive pressure.

If that is the case, swing players like Chance, Bell, Q, and Taylor will see their time as "forwards" in a positionless offense, along with Benny and Mal.

I just don't see Q being the back up PG, unless that is the only option. His skill set is much better suited as a "3" or point forward type.

These might be some of the reasons why Red is targeting another guard. He will need a PG even if Judah comes back.
I’m inferring we’ll see a 3 guard offense from Red based on his roster construction. If 60% of your roster is guards, and they happen to be your better players, than you’re probably going to play a lot of guards. Maybe we follow the Jay Wright Nova model. I think he sometimes played 4 guards.

I was having breakfast his morning with my wife at First Watch here in Charlottesville and witnessed several of the uva coaches (not Tony though) hosting transfer portal player 6’9” Jacob Groves and his family from Oklahoma. I believe it was Beekman who was his player host. They just lost Shedrick to Texas so they are in backfill mode.

Hmm - WVU recruiting FSU’s center portal entry 7’4” McLeod supposedly to sit behind Edwards.??
RaeQuan Battle is also visiting? My god. Where is backwoods hillbilly West Virginia getting all this NIL dough? Big Meth kingpin donor?

It's been posted many times. The Country Roads Trust is headed by Oliver Luck and Ken Kendrick - the principal owner of the Arizona Diamond Backs. Kendrick's net worth is 1 billion.

Yeah, big whoop, but who does he bring to the games? You know, for the fans?
Let's not reopen that door, Rodder. Besides that, it's only a matter of time before one of the children answers with "his cuzin."

First Watch? I guess all that NIL money went to West Virginia instead of Virginia

I recognize one name.

Plus…I mean I’m obviously not sold on Hubert Davis

Withers was at Louisville and underwhelmed
for a crappy team and wasn't good before that anyways. Ryan regressed this year and is overrated. Ingram is a decent player. Bacot as we know is all numbers but not an NBA talent.

Trimbles numbers last year were bad in limited minutes. Wilcher is really good but if he is as good as advertised then the transfer additions don't add up including the Wojcik kid.

Lol that is not a good team.
I think it at least could be. RJ and Bacot are both good starters and Ingram is a year removed from being a potential 1st round pick. I’m guessing the team isn’t complete yet either.

Not as high as you are on Ingram just imho. Bacot should be a 3rd option not first but I wonder how Davis handles it. Manek really covered up deficiencies in Davis as a coach that were exposed pretty raw last year.

Some of the luster definitely wore off on Ingram a bit this year. He was viewed as a potential 1st due to his age and perceived potential and he didn’t make the leap they expected. But perhaps on a more talented team he’ll prosper more. We’ll see. I think getting Ingram was a nice move but the team still might not ultimately be all that good.
