2023-24 Portal Options

Does anyone know if the staff is pursuing any forwards? Would Chance Westry play forward and is he good enough to roll with? Or is the staff content with starting Chris Bell. Haven't heard anything other than Hicks, and that may have fizzled out. We could really use a wing/forward who can shoot and do it all.

Slightly OT but has a parallel. I have a 5 yr old dog who is a mix between a pit bull and a dachshund (yes, a pit weenie). She is the sweetest dog and loves to be outside. She mainly wants to chase lizards through the bushes which she does all the time. She ruins my bushes and never catches any lizards. Her day is the same every day.

My life in one respect is very similar to hers except I constantly go Syracusefan and look at either Men’s Recruiting Forum or the Syracuse Men’s Basketball thread “2023-2024 Portal Options, hopefully for some useful information on insight on a new high school recruit or a probable transfer. Like my dog, I will return to the same locations several times doing the day hoping for insight but never finding sufficient news.

LOL, i feel that I am in a worse situation than my dog because at least she is getting exercise where I just become more frustrated during the-end of the year and the beginning of the next year. Neither of us catch the lizards that we try for.

I like your attempt but we did just get the best shooting guard in the portal class this year. Wasn't that good news?

Have not written Red off. Where did you get that? I am frustrated with the possibilities of new players and no realization yet. I believe Red will do well and have said that.

I am impatient with no news on who eventually comes to Syracuse through the portal.

Yes. But with the uncertainty of Jesse staying or not, we will still need more rebounding and scoring. If Judah stays in the draft, JJ will be his replacement, then it is a wash. If Judah returns, JJ will be and is a big plus.

ok, I guess I was just confused with your posts because you state there has been no movement, when in fact there has been. I suspect Red is waiting for Jesse's decision. Jesse, himself has stated he is 50/50, and Judah is coming back if he decides against the NBA. With two of our three forwards back, there's not many spaces left. I wouldn't expect a lot of new faces.

Oh, i see. You think I am referring to Red chasing players. No, my comparison is between my dog chasing lizards and myself going back and forth to the aforementioned Syracusefan forums.

Jesse, himself has stated he is 50/50, and Judah is coming back if he decides against the NBA. With two of our three forwards back, there's not many spaces left. Right now, counting Jesse staying and hopefully Judah coming back, there were 4 openings (1 left open from 2022, Symir, JBol, JoeG). JJ takes one leaving 3 openings. Patterson fills another, leaving 2 Openings. Believe that everyone feels that the portal is how they will be filled. If Jesse does not come back, that will be another scholarship available. Again, if Judah stays in the draft (heaven forbid) that will yet another scholarship available.

Right, I think he was even further removed from Millers involvement. Maybe he's being advised to move away from Oates and the circus that was created and get a fresh start.
