2023 PGA Tour

Stood in a Monsoon last time it was up there.

It owes me a better day..

I am there on friday.

I was just talking at dinner last night how I want to go to a tournament now that I am really getting back into golf. Is it worth it to try to get tickets for the PGA? Was thinking about going to the Toronto tournament if not that.

If you are in Syracuse, you will not find a tournament, let alone a major, any closer than Oak Hill.

Also, next September 2024, see the best golfers in Montreal in the President's Cup. USA vs the International team. Only four hours away.

Can you go Wednesday? I may have an extra ticket. I’d let you have it for free. Let me check tho.

PGA officially sold out, but tickets always show up at a decent price as people who bought all session packages unload days they wont be going.

And as people complain about riding SU shuttles the PGA shuttle is about a 20-25 min ride as there is no real parking close to the event.

My suggestion is try to get tickets for the PGA. Major only comes by every 10 years or so. Toronto weekend tickets for a "meh" event are $120.

Obviously if you go to Toronto, you can spend a few days there and do many more things than you would do in Rochester. But if its purely for golf do Rochester, and then you can consider going to Toronto in a future year for more than golf.

The Canadian Open, to the dismay of a number Canadians, is almost always in the GTA area, so you will have many chances to go back to Toronto to watch golf in future years. Also a few things about the 2023 event
- Oakdale, the host of the 2023 Open is a bit of a mystery. It is in on the northern edge of mid-town Toronto. Never been a top 100 course in Canada and it will be the first time there. I have never been there but the course does not appear to be at the standards of St.George's (2022) and Hamilton (2024) which are highly regarded courses.
- Rory will be back to defend his title, but its going to be a relatively weak field this year due to placement (see my rant above). It's possible in future years it will be on a better spot on the Calendar.

Maybe consider doing the 2024 open. Make a stop off in Hamilton, after you cross from Buffalo, and then head to Toronto.

When I went to a practice round in 2014, I drove to the course and I was told by a cop just to find a parking spot at someone's house., because it would be a ways to get back to the shuttle lot. Many of the nearby houses who were selling parking spots in their yards or driveways.

I think I paid $8 or $10, and it was about a 10-12 minute walk to the course.

Forgot about the 2024 President Cup as well. The two Canadian events in 2024 (Canadian Open in Hamilton and the President's Cup should be much better

I will check if I have anything urgent at work Wednesday. Appreciate you even checking, man!

yeah.. they have been vague on how much of that they will allow. I rode the bus and it was easy in and out and pretty fast to load as that had like 20-30 of them at a time going.

Its like Sar. they let people park on lawns but they have cracked down on that because it was un-reported income for many people.

But going to a Bills game is much the same around the stadium.

Rory +700
Cam Young 18/1
Homa 30/1
Clark 70/1
Champ 200/1
Can already tell Clark is going to piss down his leg today. Ugh. Not running hot since the Masters.

Haven’t had a sweat like this in almost two years. Cam Champ 200-1 2021 3M Open.

Going to be posting through the anxiety to myself until it’s over.

I'm going to 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage

One of my least favorite golfers ever. Putting with a broomstick doesn't help. If it is so great why aren't more using it.

That said, he has had a phenomenal senior tour career.

Congrats to Jason Day, winner of the Byron Nelson today and all-around good guy. First win in five years. As someone who's also had to deal with BPPV, and felt so bad that day he fell in Chambers Bay, knowing what he was going through. A long way back with a few other issues slowing him down, but he was solid today and it was great to watch. :)

I think his biggest issue has been his back but could be wrong.
But the vertigo incident that day was scary. I have a random vertigo incident about once every few years -- last one about 2 years back lasted longer than usual -- couldn't imagine dealing it with it more regularly.

Good guy though - when Day, Spieth, McIlroy dominated in 2014 and 2015, I thought golf might have them as a big 3 for the next decade. Day and Spieth who were both very young (or youngish) at that time, essentially peaked for various reasons, and have been surpassed by many.

My BPV has attenuated somewhat. The first time I fell from it I was playing hockey and cracked a couple of ribs. That was miserable. Anyway, I found a vestibular tech at one of the Physio/Sports Med facilities in town and she has been a God send. After a series of tests she gave me a couple of routines to follow to hasten recovery, and I can do them without having to visit her now. An episode rarely lasts more than a few days now, as opposed to a week plus of just lying around hoping it goes away. I've even forgiven her for going to Duke. :)

Is anyone local heading to the PGA in Rochester this weekend? If so, share your pictures!
