2024 bowl projections thread

FWIW, I could see Fran discouraging some guys from playing in a bowl game. For the handful of them that have legit NFL aspirations, it's really not worth the injury risk. Big picture, I suspect Fran would love to be able to recruit on a message of "I put [X] players in the league in year one."

I don’t see him discouraging anyone to not play the 13th game that they earned. Whether commitments to play in the bowl game was predetermined or not with particular players. I could see him saying something along the lines of these men can make decisions on whether they want to play or not. I want to reemphasize again this is not last year or even the year prior. Last year we were in a lame duck head coach regime with a severely injured roster. In 2022 we struggled across the finish line with a severely injured roster.

Lugenbill said today Allen is the best all purpose back in the country. That’s what will make him desirable as a 3rd down back. Great hands, pass blocker and tough runner when a couple yards are needed. Frans even been quoted saying he’ll be playing sundays. I think he makes a roster.
I've been saying all year that he will be a great 3rd down back in the league. 3rd down runs great routes, and has great hands catches anything thrown to him.
And won't go down too often without picking up more yards.
There aren't many backs that can get you a 1st down, most often on 3rd downs.

Saturday was the day that I saw NFL potential in LQA. Not that Miami's D is great, but it's loaded with athletes. And Allen outperformed them, particularly in the passing game. By all accounts he's a really strong blocker as well.

I think he's likely an UDFA, but I can at last see him with an NFL future after the weekend.
I definitely see a role as the 3rd down back. He's really good catching the ball which teams are always looking for.

Plus he does a mean Edwin Moses.

Love Lequint but don’t think he’s explosive enough. There are plenty guys that do what he does with more speed. Truly hope I’m wrong.
I think he's the best all purpose RB in all of college football. That has to translate to the NFL somehow.

Yeah he's going to be honest with them, it's who he is and it's a big part of why he's such a good recruiter.

Regarding unlv, if they win their conf championship are they the G4 team? Seems crazy since we beat them, but I like giving a G4 team a slot.

His playoff bracket is crazy. Don’t trust him.

I don’t trust his playoff bracket but he has really good connections with most if not all of the bowls.

So when he predicts those, they’re pretty accurate.

The fact he keeps putting us in the Gator Bowl tells me a lot, especially with him only putting 1 ACC team in the playoffs

Right. EVERYONE has Boise St. in, most with them getting the last bye.

And now he has them falling to something called The LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk against 6-6 Cal?

That is the likely outcome if they lose to UNLV. I am not saying they are going to lose but the Mountain
West Bowl tie-ins are awful. UNLV vs. Boise is a play-in game for the CFP so Brett is picking UNLV to win.

I’ve listened to hours of the college football channel on Sirius the last few days as I’ve been driving. It’s mostly consensus on the breakdown and seeding so I’m fascinated to see how right or wrong everyone is.

The 4 teams on the proverbial bubble are Miami, Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. Everyone thinks SMU and Boise State are in even if they lose. Many of the analysts and guests think the ACC could be a three bid league if Clemson wins.

For Syracuse standards we got a lot of love during the shows.

He’s predicting that UNLV beats BSU but isn’t ranked high enough to take the auto bye. That goes to AZ State beating Iowa State to win the B12.

It’s not crazy, IMHO.

I can’t see BSU getting in if they lose. No way the good ol boys in the selection room keep out a 3 loss SEC team over a 2 loss Mountain West team.

I think they’ll bounce SMU if they lose as well. These guys want as many SEC and B1G teams as possible and they’ll contort themselves to make it happen.

Here is all you need to know about miami’s chances and you will know about 7:10 tonight

If miami is ranked higher than alabama and ole miss they are more than lilely gonna get in baring any upsets. If they are behind them they wont. Its pretty simple. It comes down to those 3 teams specifically for the at large spot. And this only is relevant if clemson loses which i think they will

I agree Boise is out in the event they lose, but the analysts felt Boise should be in based on the Oregon game that required two Oregon special teams touchdowns to win. It’s the only time Oregon has been challenged this season except for their game at Ohio State.
