2024 bowl projections thread

Jack Murphy was destroyed a few years ago. The new SDSU stadium, Snapdragon Stadium is built on the same site. Beautiful venue.
The location of snapdragon is great for first time visitors to San Diego. It’s in Mission Valley and very close to most of the popular tourist attractions.

I’m a Syracuse native but have lived in San Diego for 25 years. It’s fantastic out here for a holiday vacation.

Would be awesome if Cuse got the nod and played USC.

No way in hell we are going to the damn pinstripe bowl. Guy is a tard
McMurphy actually has good sources and is pretty accurate with his bowl projections. That being said, he's way off here. No way a 9-3 team is going to Pinstripe..Maybe he's been fed bad info.

There's selling tickets and then there's guaranteeing how many tickets you will buy as a school. Va Tech and Duke are both reportedly guaranteeing to purchase tens of thousands of seats.
Damn so basically these AD departments are willing to risk eating a lot of money in unsold tickets to get the higher prestigious bowl. I think if I was one of those ADs and I saw the rise of Syracuse football, knew the rumblings of the AD to make some operational cuts in preparation of the house settlement. I guess I would try to force Syracuse to buy a bigger allotment of tickets than they are willing to initially buy based on expected enthusiasm. We should send Clemson the bill for any unsold tickets if we give into the forced hand to buy a larger allotment that we can sell lol.

Gator Bowl's ACC berth: Either Syracuse or Louisville.
  • Louisville played in the 2017 Gator Bowl and lost to Miss State (L27-31) in one of the lowest-attended (~41K) non-Covid Gator Bowls. That was with Lamar Jackson.
    • To be fair, SU and Clemson did not set any attendance records on Jan. 1, 1996, as they played in front of 45+K in Jacksonville.
The Gator Bowl knows that the SEC team will most often drive the majority of the ticket sales.

I think that's overblown as it is. Former long time ESPN exec cant do a darn thing to get that network to send gameday. I like him but he isn't a god
The unhealthy obsession with Gameday around here is wild.

Our football team is heading towards a 10 win season and we just beat the #6 team in the country. Let’s cut the guy some slack and not go crazy over a TV show

The Pinstripe is a better bowl than the Sun in my opinion. NYC > El Paso ... Big Ten opponent > conference that no longer exists opponent... If Syracuse wasn't in it every other year, people wouldn't hate on being in NYC around Christmas time.

It's strictly a been there, done that situation.
At 6-6 or 7-5 I was happy to drive 3 hours to the city . (and did). At 9-3 and ranked I expect better .

Wildhack was on ch9 for 30 mins talking about numerous topics. When it came to the bowls he only said they wanted a warm weather bowl. I thought he’d go a little more in depth. Hope that’s not a bad sign.

I've gotten sense they'd rather Holiday over Pinstripe so that seems to confirm it.

It’s such a great city that it took my daughter away from us and I don’t hate the place, I love it anyway ;)

McMurphy now predicting Pinstripe against Nebraska.
I believe what your hearing is spot on. Those appear to be the three bowls SU would prefer and the Pinstripe would ony be a last resort versus an out west bowl.

Personally I'd rather see them play in the Sun versus yet another ice rink fest at Yankee stadium but I do get the rationale.
The Syracuse AD needs to hype up to the Gator and Pop Tarts people how well our fan base traveled to Vegas for the UNLV game. And the ACC brass needs to advocate for us. I’m sure Fran is putting on the full court press too.

Hold up. I hate Gameday. I never watch it. So I dont care. And I like JW. Im just saying if he doesnt have pull at the network he basically ran for years, we need to be realistic about his bowl pull. Maybe he has some, but I dont want to assume.
