2024 bowl projections thread

I agree it’s freaking crazy
Gator is more prestigious and a better opponent.
Totally get that. I wish everyone who wanted to go could go, I just wish some people would stop acting like this is a fourth tier bowl, Washington State being the opponent or not
Holiday not a fourth tier but a third tier bowl. Pop Tarts get first ACC pick, so Miami or Syracuse makes sense. Gator picks second and we’re the third or fourth best ACC team, by most consensus, and we got shafted in favor of freakin Duke.

San Diego is my favorite US City that I have visited. Great spot. That time of year the average high is 65 so I doubt there is going to be a lot of beach time unless you are a seal.
There’s rarely ever any beach time in San Diego. Never gets too cold but really never gets too warm. I think the weather in December is probably better than June. Just a weird micro-climate

so Gator bowl wanted but the ACC decided? If this is true… what in the actual fluck

doubt it.
To beat the really good SEC teams you have to have a quarterback who can run. That’s why GT gave Georgia a great game. Their defensive lines just go after you. You’re not just going to stand in the pocket all day. It’s not a knock on Kyle, but you have to make plays with your legs.

No it’s not,

I don’t know if this defines the order, but it shows the ACC tiers.

Hate to keep being that guy but McCord is not gonna play. He's saying the right things publicly but he's not playing.
You make it sound so definitive, but don’t discount Kyle’s loyalty to getting Fran’s first 10 win season and top 20 finish.

This could be a foundational win for Syracuse football since Fran is such an outstanding recruiter.

Honestly I would’ve preferred the gator bowl, but the Holiday is also a great destination for everyone affiliated with Syracuse football.

If Gator is more prestigious I presume that is specific to this year? Past matchups show the Holiday has had more ranked matchups. Seems the pac 12 tie in this year is really what was the killer given there were a total of 2 choices and one wasn’t bowl eligible.

From Jacksonville , Gator fan, and seemed to have SEC info reading through his page. Maybe nothing but does this sound shocking that the ACC would take care of Duke?
This same guy got all sorts of stuff wrong in the last day. The ACC didn’t put dook there. Dook put dook there.

If that bowl is tied to Pac-12 teams going forward I don't think the prestige of that bowl game will be for long. Other then Boise none of those other teams really wowed this year. Would still be a not great match up.

Tie ins seem to adjust for Holiday over the past. This year was awful luck they stuck not to mention Wazzu went from ranked to a dud.

Though I'm disappointed, here is one positive thing: Syracuse could not have asked for a better opponent for Jahkari Williams to play against in his first game.
Assuming McCord doesn’t play, I am curious to see what Fran/Nixon can put together for whomever QB’s the team and who actually plays in this bowl. I want to feel confident that next year will be as promising as this year turned out to be. Can we adjust the offense to the players we have?

I watch dozens of SEC games this season and no you don’t need a running QB. You need a good scheme.

These are not official 2024/2025 numbers, but -

It looks like the payout for the Holiday Bowl is about $6.5M.
For the Gator Bowl, it's about $5.35M.
For the Mayo Bowl, it's about $4.8M.
Yep. Again, complain about the opponent that is fine but this whiny BS about the Holiday Bowl being low rent is a load of crap
