2024 bowl projections thread

I think this is the only West coast possibility.
No Sun for Cuse.
Between townies and alumni I know at least 50 in San Diego area & my black book is not above average.
Plus the matchup is interesting on multiple levels especially if Kyle makes an appearance.
SU has been to the west coast twice already this year. I wonder if they don’t want another trip there?

I don’t think we have ever played in the Holiday Bowl.
We have a lot of west coast alumni and lots to do in San Diego.
it would immediately help west coast recruiting and I dare say everyone, or at least McCord would play. Great place to showcase your talents to NFL scouts.

and I think the players would love it out there,
I still think Gator is preferred, but this is a close second.

I would be surprised if we turned down the Holiday.

Would guess our preference is

Pop Tart
Gator
Holiday
Dukes Mayo

I think in the end, the key factor determining our bowl destination will be the number of playoff bids the ACC gets. It means a lot more than whether we win against Miami or not.

If the ACC gets 2 in the playoffs, I think we get a warm weather bowl. And probably one in Florida. If the ACC gets 3, I can't see how we do not get get a Florida bowl.

Duke continues to win and only needs a win against Wake to get to 9 wins. If they do that and we lose to Miami, they might get a slot over us.

But they are a small school with a small fan base (for football) and have a really bad reputation for traveling that is going to hurt them here.

I think you guys are forgetting that we have already had two west coast trips this season.

We’ve kinda already tapped into the alumni base and their dollars out there twice this season.

Have to imagine any west coast bowls are pretty low on the pecking order. Would imagine we want an east coast bowl specifically this time around.

Sorry west coasters

Agree. Any other year and San Diego would be awesome but just bad timing for it this year.

We lose to Miami I think the Sun Bowl is another option...but Duke might get it as they don't travel. Sun Bowl has a decent TV slot.

I hope the Gasparilla can be elevated a bit in next bowl package for 7 and 8 win teams

Agree. The fans out there have enjoyed two games but a third is presumably tough even if it is southern cal and a different fan base.

I could see fans liking San Diego as a trip over NC but the Florida ones are clearly the top preference. We have a lot of snowbird fans who are already in Florida this time of year so we will typically always prefer those bowls.

I think it’s Gator/Pop Tart followed by Dukes and Holiday. NC is such an easy trip for East coasters and family. It’s not as warm though. If we hadn’t already been on west coast twice I’d say holiday instead.

Surely someone will.

I'd be OK with one more trip out west. With all the crazy travel now, there's an opening in college football lore for the team that can dominate every time zone. The longer the distance, the better we play. SU can be like the old Bobby Bowden "road warrior" teams at FSU. DART anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

I hope this is based on his expectation only 1 ACC team is making the playoffs.

It is kind of funny. Syracuse fans will be rooting hard for Clemson to beat South Carolina this weekend and Clemson fans will be doing similar rooting for Syracuse to beat Miami.
He actually has two ACC teams in the playoffs. Puts Louisville in Gator, Duke in Pop Tarts and Clemson in Holiday.

Lots of people have UL in the Gator right now. Guessing they might have been given a *conditional promise to be picked for this bowl.

*=I assume that all changes of UL loses to Kentucky. This is apparently another game we Syracuse fans need to monitor closely on Saturday.

You could argue if things fall right SU would be the 2nd best team in the ACC after next 2 weeks

SU beats Miami
Clem loses to USC and SMU
UL loses to Kent
Duke loses to Wake

that would be Armageddon for the ACC, but I'd be quite pleased with it.

Yea...no. Our dollars and fandom are ready, willing and waiting.
