2024 bowl projections thread

This doesn't make sense to me. Based strictly on the number of new posts here (post win) mentioning Gator, I would think that one would be the one over 50%.
I'm assuming we get one into the playoff. That bumps clemson or miami to Gator.

If we get 2 Gator bumps up some

I saw an article from an El Paso newspaper yesterday that said they did not expect Syracuse to be around when it came time for them to select an ACC team. This was before SU beat Miami. So I think it is unlikely we fall that low.

All these projections are bogus though until we find out how many ACC teams make the playoffs.

I think the worst case scenario for Syracuse is for SMU to beat Clemson next Saturday. If that happens, it is possible and perhaps likely the ACC only gets SMU into the playoffs.

We can argue about that and I hope Miami would still get a playoff spot but you know the SEC and B1G are going to fight like hell for their teams and we saw last year how little power the ACC has in these matters.

So let’s just say it happens and examine how it impacts Syracuse. Again, this is a worst case scenario.

SMU goes to the playoffs.

Clemson gets the Pop Tarts or the Holiday. They played in the Gator last year and I don’t think will return there. They played in the Pop Tarts bowl in late 2021 so playing there again so soon is not ideal.

Miami would probably go to the Gator. I find this impossible to believe but it looks to me as though they have not played in that game since 1952. I could see the Gator picking us though if word got out McCord and the gang would be playing for SU. I believe Cam Ward is definitely not playing for UM, along with many of the other of the mercenaries they signed to play for them this year.

That leaves Syracuse, Duke and UL as the next tier of teams available.

One gets the Holiday.

It won’t be Duke. They have no fanbase and always get boned with bowl assignments.

If the Holiday is still available, I think they would take SU. We clearly have a strong presence out west. UL does not. Duke doesn’t have a strong presence (for football) anywhere. But would we be willing to go out west a third time this season?

I think the answer is yes, if the alternatives are Charlotte or El Paso.

If the ACC gets two teams into the playoffs, o think we almost widely end up in k e of the Florida bowls, probably the Gator.

Will feel a lot better about things of the ACzc gets two teams in. Very sad Clemson could not hold on to that lead against South Carolina.
To me i still say the loser of the acc title game does not get in. I think they will drop smu out and obviously if clemson loses they are out

It’s been discussed on here already, but Miami won’t go to the Gator Bowl since they already played Florida earlier this season. And Florida seems to be a lock for the Gator based on recent reports. Miami likely goes Pop Tarts or Holiday.

That’s where I’m at and why I’ve been predicting Su Florida in the gator since we won yesterday.

If we want Gator, I think we want to pull for SMU to win the ACCCG. If Clemson wins, the final playoff spot will likely come down to Bama or SMU, and because it’s the $EC, Bama will get in, which means SMU likely to Gator.

Will FSU get a share of bowl money from the ACC? That doesn’t seem fair.
Yes, they will get a share of the base distribution but because the league went to unequal distribution due to their whining and Clemson, teams that make the CFP keep most of that.

Big mistake by the FSU brain trust. Their demands to get more simply because they are FSU were of course rejected but changes were made to reward the most successful teams.

Last place does not pay well. What a shame for them.

I am quite concerned that the ACC is only going to get one team into the playoff. The system is set up to maximize SEC/B1G playoff teams and minimize everyone else.

We barely snuck into the polls, and Miami dropped a lot - the perception is Miami was just overrated and the ACC sucks. SMU's schedule isn't impressive, I hadn't looked at it until this morning but if they lose to Clemson I could make a pretty good case for a 3-loss Syracuse team over a 2-loss SMU team, so I'm pretty confident that they don't get in over Alabama or South Carolina.

If SMU wins, Clemson is obviously out, and it's 2-loss Miami trying to get in over Alabama or South Carolina. They've got a better chance than a 2-loss SMU team in my opinion, but I don't see either getting in over Alabama or South Carolina.

So I guess the question is, what's better for us in trying to get the Gator Bowl? Having SMU out of the playoff or Clemson out of the playoff?

Hey FSU, don’t you think that the ACC should amend their revenue sharing so teams in last place don’t steal the money from us in the top 5? ;)

I selfishly am hoping for gator bowl. I have a Florida golf trip planned for 1/3-1/6. I’d love to start that trip a day early.
Where are you going for golf?

Still up in the air! We’ve confirmed dates but still trying to iron out locations. Happy to hear thoughts/suggestions or happy to connect if you’d like to join in on some rounds!

I’m in Jacksonville. I haven’t played any golf here in Jax. But, I played a lot at the Hammock Beach Resort. Two nice courses, one on the ocean. And, if you’re close by and you have room, I’d love to play a round or two.

I tweeted at the Sporting News guy and he changed SU’s bowl to the Pop Tarts bowl vs Texas Tech. See what happens when you call a guy a cundt and threaten his family? Only kidding. But he did change his projection.

He probably was napping while making his initial picks
