2024 Holiday Bowl- Syracuse vs. Washington State December 27th, 8pm ET

Meh… ole Miss has a bunch of hired guns that will all opt out. Their qb most likely will as well. MCCord was never playing in the bowl game either. I just think people are making a big deal about dumb things. Wildhack, the opponent, the bowl.

Look, I dont care about bowl games at this point other than the ones involved in the 12 team playoff they just don’t mean anything anymore. Fans need to adjust in my opinion.

Too much drama about a 9-3 season, and a decent bowl game
Always the same cast of characters bitching

Ole Miss is probably the worst opponent and most likely blowout we could have faced. I think Kiffen has someone that is a former starter behind Dart. I do not think losing by 30 to Ole Miss and then opening up against Tennessee would be a good thing for the program.

Give me a team we can beat without McCord.

Hotel recommendations? things to do with kids?
So that depends on where you want to stay. Close to the stadium and near the trolley that drops you there? Something like the Town and Country Resort that was just remodeled would be a good choice. Also, for the wives lots of shopping in the area(Mission Valley). You could also stay in Old Town and be right within walking distance of the trolley. Little Italy near downtown is a great neighborhood with incredible food and drink but really a place for kids but also on the trolley line.

More fun for the kids would be to stay on Mission Bay. The Mission Bay Resort or the Hyatt Regency are great for kids. However, if you want a resort on the bay but also walking distance to the ocean, bars, restaurants and attractions like Belmont Park(great for kids) I'd stay at the Bahia or the Catamaran. If kids want to surf, boogey board and explore the ocean the Bahia or Catamaran would be great.

North Park is the neighborhood I would stay in if food/drink/culture was the most important, not really a place for kids and the only hotel is the Lafayette which did just go under a 26 million dollar renovation and is beautiful. Also, the neighborhood is only about 5-7 miles from Snapdragon. You'd have to uber tot he stadium from here. At one point 30th street in North Park was the number one beer street in the US.

Balboa Park is great for families. 15 museums plus the San Diego Zoo. Torrey Pines for a relatively easy hike and amazing views. The glider port near there is also a great place for lunch and amazing views.

Coronado and La Jolla have incredible beaches. For snorkeling I would do La Jolla and check out the sea lions. Coronado is good for younger kids but older kids would probably get bored.

Hope that's helpful, here for any other questions.

Thing is, these bowls DO MATTER for the fans and they may be more important than anything else in this day and age.

The bowl games are used as major fundraising pushes with events before etc.

Unfortunately with the game timing, the team will be spending Christmas out in San Diego. Away from many of their families because we are an East Coast team.

It also means much less of those East coast fans for fundraising.

The west coast certainly has alums but they’ve been tapped into twice this season already.

I can’t imagine that Syracuse is fully thrilled with this bowl destination.

While a higher end bowl, it is coming at a cost for the football team.

Again, it’s great for the program and the players but there are some drawbacks to us being in the Holiday bowl

My family loves the Mission Beach area, especially the Mission Bay side. We've taken our kids multiple times.

I don't think that's all that close to the stadium, but for the rest of your San Diego stay it's great.
Great option and only about 8-9 miles from the stadium. You can take the bus to the trolley in Old Town to the stadium but it can be kind of a pain. I loved living in Mission Beach.

Agreed, nobody is saying it's a bad bowl. But playing a nationally irrelevant team is what kills it for me. Nobody cares about a team that doesn't even have a conference and played a Mountain West schedule. Hopefully Jakhari starts so we can see what he's got, thats the only thing I'm excited for
Wow, there is no initial buzz on the local news for these two teams playing in San Diego. The bowls got really screwed up; it should have been Cuse/Colorado in the Holiday and BYU/Wazzu in the Alamo

Oh nice, you lived there?

Whenever we go my wife says we should move there, and then she looks at the real estate values and realizes... we'd be poor.

The trolly goes from old town to the stadium?

Yeah I lived there from 2002-2005. My one bedroom apt(crappy) between the bay and ocean in Mission Beach was $675 month. Haha.

This makes little sense to me. No college should be counting on a bowl game for any kind of serious fundraising. Who knows where it’ll be, when it’ll be, or if a team will even make it. That kind of thing should be planned around regular season games and other milestone events during the year.

Plus, as has been discussed here repeatedly, the ACC pools all bowl money and redistributes it. I’m also fairly certain there’s a travel subsidy for schools making longer, more expensive trips like ours.

I’m sure the players would rather celebrate Xmas in San Diego than in a hotel in Boston before playing in the Wasabi bowl anyway.

You’re not in touch if you don’t understand the fundraising that occurs before a bowl game.

Also, we weren’t in contention for the Fenway bowl so that argument doesn’t even make sense.

Imagine Fran on the recruiting trail with 10 wins and a top 20 finish. This is the only upside to the holiday bowl other than experiencing San Diego
Without McCord the O will be unrecognizable and I fear rather impotent.

It’ll be the last image that fans have leading into next year. Can potentially kill any goodwill built up in November.
