2026 Transfer Thread

did someone reputable say this? i just checked in with a plugged in source who said they are not leaving uva...

No I didn't think so that's why I prefaced it and I figured you or another one of our guys with a good source would be able to debunk pretty clearly which appears to be the case. Seemed far fetched but in D1 lax you can never rule anything out.

anybody ever hear of a recruit being able to get out of an nli (or whatever they're calling it now) without a coach leaving/getting fired?

those are signed in november, as opposed to summer? when current players are signing them. little millon ready to sit out a year?

I mean, I would think the contracts are written so that if you end up not attending the school and fulfilling their obligations, they don't get the payments.

If they aren't written that way, then the collective/school/donor deserves what they get. Not hard to find a lawyer who can write a contract that will protect the donor.

they're also written so that you don't get to play anywhere else that year.

That rumor does appear to be false but on your question you raise a good point. I am not 100% sure but my thought process is there probably is away out but a school maybe able to make it messy if they wanted to.

Not sure I would sign that contract. I get agreeing to forfeit payments if I leave, but I wouldn't sign a contract that said I couldn't leave if I wanted.

Per Fanlax, Ohio St. SSDM Dante Bowen has entered the portal. 6’1” 190 Brampton, ON native who has played box with Spallina, Deere, & co. in Orangeville the past 2 summers. Played in only 3 games a both a frosh & soph, redshirted as a junior, then played in 12 games this year with 10 GBs & 4 CT.

Do the Ivies make kids sign NLI? If so Hunter Chauvette definitely switched his mind from Yale to Hopkins the summer after his Senior year. Never understood how he was able to do that.

Its a financial aid agreement versus an NIL.

Misread your question as NIL versus NLI. Yes players get out of NLI's all the time, schools just release them 98% of the time.

Oh crap. I read wgdsr's post as NIL, not NLI.

Sorry wgdsr.

sorry... we've been talking about 2 different things as we each didn't catch each other's posts clearly enough.

i was speaking about national letter of intent, which now has a new name. for scholarship money.

tho... on the subject of name, likeness image, contracts can and will look different than today in the future.

ok. has a recruit ever been released out of one to be eligible as a freshman? def could happen nowadays. but i don't recall it.

Yes, Syracuse lax has done it a few times.
i believe that def could be true. i am not 100 on it by any means. we both probably consume a lot of nc$$, i don't recall ever seeing a recruit in hoops or football (or lax) getting that. but of course no one sees everything.

who has gotten one?

if that ohio st dmid did enter portal he be a nice pick up. Mean he looks athletic strong n fast. We could use dmids for sure this year but def next year.

SU had a Fogo recruit a number of years ago who they let out of his NIL in the summer and he ended up at Marquette. There was also a middie I believe but the name escapes me.

Multiple others in different sports
