Alabama to pay their strength coach like a head coach

LSU boosters want to pony up $15MM to buy out Miles and Alabama pays their S/C coach $500K. Unreal and how do other teams compete with the big boys?

BTW - In Monte Burke's recent book on Nick Saban, Saban raved about Scott Cochran saying that he was one of the main reasons Bama has been successful over the years.
I remember in an interview with Trent Richardson the interviewee asked him what his max bench was, his response is that he doesn't know because " in Alabama they train to lift in repetitions and not on max lifts " Power lifting was "taboo" and not good on the body and it's joints.

BTW, here is Scott giving a tour of Alabama's workout facilities. Interesting guy:

Also, college coaching is a very warped market. What's the best thing you can do to field a championship team?
A) Get the best players
B) Get the best coaches
C) Get the best facilities

There's a lot of money in college football. Talent wins, but colleges can't pay for the best talent outright because of NCAA and "amateurism" so they compete on coaches. Look at professional sports. The amount of money spent on players dwarfs the coaching staff. But in college, they can only pay a small portion of the labor force, so the coaching staff get warped salaries.
