All-ACC Football Team announced

In a game designed to pick a team with more points than the other, as the winner. TD’s the QB accounts for matters.

Kind of like our offense last year. Yards look cool on paper and marketing campaigns but TD’s matter.

Beautiful thrower, but man did he get rattled with some pressure in his face. Not very mobile... to me, wreaks of a dime a dozen NFL Guy that is way overvalued going into the draft.
This x1000. Game losing INT came when Robinson was untouched and bearing down. Dungey would have ducked, looked downfield, then ran for the first. At worst.

I think Finley's the better player. He had more total yards. Dungey did account for 32 TDs. That's 11 more than Finley.
Player? I think that's a horrible misuse of that word. Ill give ya better passer but Dungey encompasses the very definition of a Player. More yards? Finley averaged 9 total yards more per game, Dungey averaged nearly a TD more per game. Its not even close who the better player is, come on! Dungey was ACC QB of the week 4 times!! Finley- 0 times!

Game on the line. Chance to beat Eric in a head to head. The “1st team QB” threw it to our LB.

This is a southern / NC centric league. The only way our players are going to get respect is by winning continually. Beat them over and over again and make them respect us.

Individual awards are nice but a 10 win season is better than any of those things that are voted and handed out by committee. Keep letting the play on the field be #1 and take this out on whomever you play in a Bowl.

...if he was in the game. Which he wasn't against NC, getting pulled for ineffectiveness and needing the backup to lead an improbable comeback at home against the second worst team in the conference.

This thread is embarrassing. So many here crying and whining about bias while wearing the orange goggles and chugging the orange kool aid. That's not to say that there isn't grounds for a legitimate debate about the placement of Finley, Lawrence, or Dungey. I think a credible case can be made for all three for any of the top three slots. But the vehemence about how Dungey was robbed is over the top. Maybe, just maybe, those not dyed in Orange see him a bit more objectively. They see a QB who could not finish games against FSU and UNC and threw away the Pitt game. How many first team QB's do you see in other conferences need to get pulled for the backup with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter because the offense stopped moving the ball?

Argue for Dungey all you want - like I said, I think there is a perfectly rational and credible case to be made that he should be first team. He had a fantastic season in many respects and put up great numbers. But spare me this whole routine of deciding that any contrary opinion is evidence of bias and nit picking the other QB's while ignoring the glaring weaknesses in Dungey. We should be better than that.

Your talking about the UNC game where our offense was steam rolling them until our coach had the bright idea of trying to block a punt in their endzone giving them a first down giving them the initiative which turned what would have been a rout into a pitched battle?

INSERT: thread derail. Level: 1000.

60% completion rate to start.

Dungey doesn't have a future NFL WR to throw it to every time like Finley did.
Kelvin Harmon is like some unholy hybrid of AET, Ish, and Custis.

And, as Gisele Bündchen lamented re her Boo, Tom Brady - he can't catch the ball for them too.
Dungey was sporadic at times, but a lot of other times hit dudes right in the hands, and they dropped it.
Nykeim dropped 2 TD passes in just the past 2 weeks, for example.

And, it's not like Dungey is not well-regarded nationally, since he's a Unitas Golden Arm Finalist, and now a Manning Finalist too.

Tobacco Road bias. Plain & simple.

Andrea Adelson lives in Orlando.

I don't claim to know why the voters did what they did. I think it's nuts, and leave it at that.

Hey, if you want to ignore the running stats - Eric is middle of the ACC as a passer.

The voters ran the numbers as QB = Best Passer. Last I checked running TD's counted as six.

Voters were told for who they thought was the best quarterback. I'm assuming that's all of the criteria they were given. Therefore, the best QB could theoretically mean different things to different people. Quality, like these honors in general, are subjective.

The complaints of bias, though, are weak. People here are asking writers and coaches from across the conference, regardless of affiliation, to know Dungey's impact on the team as well as we do. They don't and can't be expected to.

You're right. But i didnt realize i needed to be so literal. Who's the better football player, Drew Brees or Cam Newton?

Also, Dungey shat the bed in three ACC games (FSU, Pitt, and UNC). He lost to Clemson (so does everyone). He was marginal against Wake. Look, I have him as a second team-er, but its ridiculous to think that reasonable minds can't feel differently. (that's not completely directed at you)
