Doesn't look like we are having one this year. Unfortunate...I know that I haven't heard or seen a thing.
Has always been this way. Then they whine of no fan support. They really do a great job of building excitement for the season for the casual fan...
Im impressed with the AD’s fundraising abilities and Dino’s ability to be a CEO and face of the program. They really do a great job of building excitement for the season for the casual fan...
Just the sort of stuff that makes you shake your head when every major sport is down and fan goodwill is nearing “E”I don't knock the Athletic Department for a lot, but they are SO bad at this stuff.
A fan fest is an absolute no brainer. It needs to be reimagined a little bit, but good lord it's such an easy win for PR
Easy for you to say, you've been a diehard for how many years? These types of events are why my older son is an avid fan. The lack of effort on these events since Gross/Gopherman left have my younger son completely uninterested. Why does he want to watch a losing program that offers nothing outside of the bad football? At least my older son went to BBQs, got to put on the equipment, got autographs from the players, got to run around on the fields, bouncy-houses in the quad(naybe they still have these?), live music, etc.I don’t have a problem this year. Louisville is the bowl and with the new offensive staff I have no problem keeping it under wraps and not wasting time with a vanilla workout
Not to mention small/regional businesses at times attend these events. Missed NIL opportunities/contributive sources.Yeah as we’ve said a million times, these things aren’t for people like us that spend far too much time talking about Orange sports with strangers online for literally hours on end.
We've set the bar so low for Dino that it's kind of sad. We're still supporting for the most part despite 1 season at .500 or better in 6 years because he's nice and has made a couple viral locker room speeches.Im impressed with the AD’s fundraising abilities and Dino’s ability to be a CEO and face of the program.
The rest im meh about for both. Its definitely a prove it year on multiple levels for me. Thats just my opinion.
My 2 have 0 interest in the football program unless I'm making them look at something or go to a game. They've been to the Dome, they've been to Michigan and they've been to A&M and one of those experiences is drastically different then the others and I guess helped lead to them not caring about the program.Easy for you to say, you've been a diehard for how many years? Spend money to make money. They need events like these to generate hype and excitement for a program//University athletic program thats underperformed to ours and their own standards for years now.I think people over look how much goes into these events to put on.. I know of several colleges really struggling to get events done because almost all of these type events require free volunteers to do most of the heavy lifting. The school cant even get people to help do things on game days and getting probably 50 people in the summer to do a fan fest is also probably pretty hard as well. when you add on that this is the time of year many employees are on vacation and how many have to be around for 2-3 days of kids coming in and classes starting its not really a great time to do extra events that bring in no money, are mostly poorly attended anyway and cost a good chunk of money
you would think.. But I know we cant even find people to do any sporting events that give you free access to games, ushers/food/ticket takers, we cant get people to help with graduation/commencements and move in days either.. I would think SU is having the same issues. And even with that they would still need to have a bunch of athletic staff on hand for the event. Some of the events are struggling because they cant get catering done because of lack of food/staff for events.Spend money to make money. There’s plenty if campus organizations/sources of volunteer labor that’d help run these events. Doesn’t have to be finding workers off the street.

Any while we think of the good will I dont think any amount of spending for these things generates any real money for the school . Say you get 1000 people for an event like this. how many of those become fans wouldnt have been and how many stop being fans because we dont have one.. Even if kids love it do we really think it makes them a fan for life and how many of the 200 that show up does that happen for.
how many are original eyeballs vs the same set of people year after year. When we were good i couldnt drag people to go to these things with me.
An event of this size is gonna cost easily say 1-200K. You really think it generates that kind of money on investment? They need sponsers and thats not easy to find these days either.
yea. pretty much what i think. its also a distraction from a team/coach that really wants to perform and needs to.Of the 1000 people who show up, 975 are already season ticket holders.
And the other 25 aren't going to be dissuaded from buying tickets because their kids couldn't meet Otto or go on a bouncy ride.
My oldest son, is already planning how he is going to make it back from Canisius each weekend there is a home game. He hasn't even moved into his dorm and he's thinking about how to get to SU football games. My youngest son(14) didn't attend a single game last year and has not shown much interest this year despite playing JV. The program already lost him at this point. Given the amount of time and money I've invested as they were growing up, that makes me sad. I doubt I'm alone. And they didn't just lose 1 fan, they lost his branch of the family tree, most likely forever. Short-term vs long-term investments.Of the 1000 people who show up, 975 are already season ticket holders.
