Anyone know what’s up with SUfootball NIL

There was always going to be a major fall out when it came time to hire an outsider as a basketball coach. Like this is the most obvious thing ever. It’s so obvious, there should be an epiphany coming soon. Still a necessary step that needed to be taken. The old Syracuse way approach to basketball simply does not work in the ACC to be where Syracuse wants to be. And I’m not talking really about the zone, I’m talking about offense. It needs to be accepted. Thankfully the Lally’s didn’t get its way on Lyke, but in the same breath I hope they get its way on BH. Bryan Blair will have the voice of the fans and that matters. Also, I really hope they can keep Fran happy, though I think there is another superstar on staff now (Vince Kehres). But agreed with everyone here, better and much stronger together than apart. It’s messy, but the right people are getting the jobs so far, so hopefully things resolves itself.
The thing is it sounds like it didn’t have to be this messy. Some very strange leadership decisions created warring factions and we aren’t big enough to have a splintered donor base.

I do believe this is right and ultimately what started a lot of the dominoes.
Kent truly wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Covid. He showed how a feckless leader he was around 2019. Google it. I’m assuming he was a hire to appease the NCAA. Overstayed his welcome by a half of decade because priorities shifted at the start of the pandemic, noise around his resignation were silenced, and it screwed Syracuse ability to prepare for the new era of College Sports.

It is always possible.

The new AD and Chancellor hopefully are good at making introductions and rebuilding bridges.
First thing is to make sure those NIL payments go out for football, then start mending fences. I’m a little concerned with the chancellor based on some of these posts, but I believe in our new AD. We also need to get control of our NIL situation and make sure decisions are being made by those who should be making them.

Just to say it again for the __nth time. College athletics. What the heck happened?

“Athletes bring in so much money to the school we have to pay the players! But raise money from the community in a fund separate from the university that is managed by something somehow! But yes millionaires actually have the most money because they are millionaires, so we need them the most! And because they have the most they also want to do more stuff, so they need to be included in decisions for reasons. But how many should be? Should all? What’s the entry fee to sit at the table to choose the next su athletic dept employee? And if they aren’t they will be upset. And maybe they won’t donate as much. And maybe their hair falls out like Walter Sobchak’s ex wife’s Pomeranian. And if they don’t donate, the players won’t get paid. So then the players won’t play. So then we lose games. So we need more money. So please donate!”

Life is a circle and we are all just water.
Evolution happen things change

Bottom line is we need all parties involved to get together and hash it out. Lallys, Burton, Meiers, Melo and every other major NIL donor has been intrical to Syracuses success and we need all of them moving forward. This current situation mostly falls on SU itself. Haynie, Blair and Wildhack need to get on this 6am Monday and get some mea culpas out and get everyone back on track. We need everyone and thats includes getting Weitsman back in the game.

You left out that Fran Brown has already devised an exit plan with his agent, that this alleged incident is the start of the destruction of Syracuse athletics and the end of any passion for our city.

Wow that sucks

So to confirm Haynie is fully aware that his house is on fire? If so I would expect him to be on the phone all weekend repairing this matter.
i have faith that haynie and blair will be able to get people to calm down and bring folks together for the betterment of su athletics.

This is a massive off ramp for Fran. JW hired him, and thats who Fran really swore his loyalty to.

If the rumbling about the NIL and impact on our current players doesn't get fixed, and like asap, it's an easy out. And Fran looks like the smart one.

For months it was MH was going to be great for sports. It's getting late early.
I wonder where Fran would go after here if he were to leave over NIL?

No idea if they’re giving her another role. I sure hope they don’t force that on a new AD. If they do, that says a lot about who’s in charge.
What happens with her will say a lot about how serious the university is in its commitment to major school athletics.

I fully expect her to move on with Kent. Personal opinion only.

That is a good point about Kehres. He would clearly be a great replacement if, God forbid, Fran left.
