Anyone know what’s up with SUfootball NIL

In order for rich/powerful people to be held accountable for the things they do, you need to have people behind the scenes calling them out on their nonsense, because they are surrounded by yes men.

The "so-called insiders" know what's going on, and if they didn't care about the school they wouldn't be posting the information here. To call out people on this board for sharing the dysfunction that is clearly occuring is crazy.

And then to blame the fans, while we're in a recession and the price of gas is through the roof, for not donating their hard earned money for a few guys to play basketball... what an insane post.
Stop the presses, dare I say……..great great post bnoro!

Bottom line is we need all parties involved to get together and hash it out. Lallys, Burton, Meiers, Melo and every other major NIL donor has been intrical to Syracuses success and we need all of them moving forward. This current situation mostly falls on SU itself. Haynie, Blair and Wildhack need to get on this 6am Monday and get some mea culpas out and get everyone back on track. We need everyone and thats includes getting Weitsman back in the game.
Can I get an amen!

So to confirm Haynie is fully aware that his house is on fire? If so I would expect him to be on the phone all weekend repairing this matter.

Cliff's Notes Version Recap

For new readers of this thread, I will try and recap the deets on this morbidly fascinating situation and high drama (if I am understanding all this correctly) below...

Do I have this right as we know things currently??

Those ITK, please correct me if I have any of this wrong or add any pertinent details that may be missing...

Full Disclosure: Some of this may be wrong, and is an amalgamation of what has been posted or intimated in this thread so far, so take it with a grain of salt.

----------

Haynie went into the Chancellor gig pro-Lyke for AD (as reported here), aligned with Lally on that, and when Lyke-gate went down with the DO expose article, they essentially tried to play hardball and force Lyke thru as AD anyways... But donor faction and fan non-support for Lyke got so toxic, they had to go in another direction, and Haynie/Lally forced Blair through as their alternative pick for AD in the search committee, without consult of other whale donor factions (particularly on the football side along with some bball major supporters like Melo, etc.)??

That would also imply that Lally/Haynie were pulling all the strings on the AD "search committee", if all this was done without other whale stakeholder factions on the football side consulted, yes??

Hence, those disgruntled football donors with their dissatisfaction, responded by scuttling something very important they had control over - pulling football NIL support and taking down the NIL collective donation website, since control and management of it is in their camp. (Sidenote: Issues like this are why many schools have brought the management of NIL collectives in house, to prevent 3rd party management problems like the bankruptcy of Orange United collective under our former 3rd party management partner and now this hostage-taking play by the replacement collective under 3rd party donor control. There is the argument that school has dropped the ball allowing the collectives to operate for this long outside their purview and control and allow for these types of problems to happen. This should provide impetus to finally change that, hopefully.)

Now upcoming NIL payments to football players are in question, as the collective has been temporarily shuttered in protest, and players may not get their next scheduled NIL payments with Spring ball starting. Fran and staff are understandably in W-T-&!#$-mode trying to figure out what to do next to get their players paid as promised, while the power brokers use them as pawns in this boardroom game of chicken on the AD and basketball coach hires. The football donor faction is attempting to claw some power back from Lally/Haynie with this NIL collective shutdown play.

Additionally, Lally is pushing hard for Hodgson as next basketball coach, supposedly committing to some significant level of NIL support personally for Hodgson (Lally has been primarily athletics MAJOR supporter with the $25 mil athletics complex donation as well as NIL support on the football side). The Hodg NIL support marks his first foray into significant NIL support on the bball side seemingly. A separate faction of Bball major donors are in the GMAC/internal hire camp for head coach. Word also that a pre-negotiated contract (in principle) for Hodg is already in Haynie's (and now AD Blair's) hands for final review / approval with the BoT, so the push for Hodg is in advanced stages.

New AD Blair is now walking into a hornet's nest of boardroom and donor dysfunction and dissatisfaction, with a player level 5 NIL disbursement emergency to immediately resolve along with trying to get all whale donor stakeholder factions together to find compromise and build a consensus way forward. He has to convince grown-ass, rich adults to actually behave like adults, put the school and athletics first, and end the power struggle and childish tantrum tit-for-tats.

Is that where we're at??

Donors vs SyracuseFan.com showdown.jpg

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath here.

The adults just got into the room. Let’s give the new Chancellor and AD a chance to do what they need to do before we say Fran’s is leaving and we’ll never be able to compete again.

I mean they just got hired. Good lord.

And if you think Syracuse is the only school this happens at you’re crazy.

'But fan non-support for Lyke got so toxic...'

Was it fans who scuttled the chances of her getting the job?
Or major donors?
I don't know the answer to this. I feel like they're pretty insulated from run-of-the mill fans, though.

Btw when these posters are blaming the fans, they are blaming us all because we wouldn’t let Heather Lyke be the AD.

Just chew on that for a moment.
Any chance you can link to those. I don’t have the time so search for what you are referring to.

I heard the online chatter was noted and received, and she was deemed to be too toxic for the fanbase.

I don't disagree with the sentiment but Haynie has some culpability here from the sounds of it. So yeah Haynie just got here but he was a contributing factor. He needs to fix this asap.

Relationships can always be fixed. My issue is prioritizing one donor over others. You may as well tell them all to shut up and do what's right for the school and have them get in line. Starting with trying to push Heather on us all was not a smart move.

That’s fine. There’s plenty of blame to go around. Let’s give him the opportunity to do that. Same goes for Blair. Let’s give him the opportunity to get those donors back on board.

This is not the first time donors have been upset and felt slighted. It won’t be the last.

Agree but would add from last night there was a suggestion that Nil fund payments could be in jeopardy this month which turned this into a hotter issue. If that's resolved there's certainly more runway.
