Anyone know what’s up with SUfootball NIL

Does anyone know if SU has reached out to Micron ? They're going to a 100 billion dollar in the next 12 months. I couldn’t imagine being any more fortunate having this company being here in CNY. 10-20 million annually would be chump change to them
I think there needs to be an angle that they are supporting minorities - that seems to be their thing when it comes to donations.

Micron and SU already have a relationship spearheaded by Haynie. Currently it revolves around academia and curriculum development to help train the workforce Micron will require.

So, I have a couple of questions.

Earlier in this thread, there was a supposition that the Lally's supported Lyke because they are friends with her. Eminently believable.

However, to apparently block the hiring of the university/search comittee's preferred candidate due solely to a friendship seems a bit extreme.

How does a single donor, regardless of how influential, have the ability to block an AD candidate from being hired?

And why would donors (meaning any donor who contributes a lot of money to athletic programs) care who the AD is to that extent?

I don't get it.

I'll take, "compromised, bad candidate with reputation problem promising to do what she is told to ressurect her career" for 200, Alex.

Power grab, plain and simple.

I'm not in the know but based on what's been said on this board is that the Lally's wanted to have Lyke as AD to be their puppet. I'm not saying this is true but that's what some have suggested.

Also like many uber wealthy, they have the “stayed at a holiday inn” mindset permanently as it pertains to knowing whats best in every venture they put their money and energy into. Control and power becomes like a drug and with the Lally’s and everything they have done so far ( a lot to their credit) this has continued to build and add some entitlement to having the right to have a final say as though they are a majority shareholder. I’d wager others may feel the same in the football NIL space and thus we have the mess we have now. It just sucks to find something else be driven by politics, even if it’s business and higher education politics given we are subjected to enough as it is every day in general.

I think you really nailed it with your thinking here. Rich people aren't like us...
