X is good for sports and fast news, that’s about it. I mainly use it to see reactions to clips or opinions on games. Outside of that, it’s mostly just brain rot. Instagram is way better, especially with big group chats.

Yup. I hate anything with an algorithmic feed. And even my Bluesky is an echo chamber (though I acknowledge that). More sports folks are finally joining there though it’s still smaller. If we got more prominent ones it could kill Twitter for sports.

My issue is with any individual isolating Twitter when all social media sites operate on agenda driven algorithms. If not for political purposes, it’s for marketing purposes. Anything you click on creates a seamless oversaturation of the same content. It’s basically mainstream media on steroids as far as manipulation is concerned. And then add to that the addictive intent of encouraging you to post and show the world you matter so you don’t feel like you don’t matter. The whole FOMO affect is real and it’s damaging to the mental and emotional health of users.

And fo pretend like that is isolated to X because you don’t like Musk is an agenda in itself. It’s all toxic.

Bluesky is open source and doesn't have an algorithm.

Also, Elon, Zuck, and Ellison are horrid humans, and it's well documented. So yeah, X, Meta, and TikTok are all compromised which is why people are switching to open source social media.

But X is above and beyond the worst, and the blueprint.

I don't get the angst over Fran leaving. I know people hold it against Marrone but people with ambition and confidence will leave here for bigger and greener pastures. Frankly I don't think we will have to worry about it in regards to Fran (who in my opinion still has a lot to learn), but if he wins a ton of games and moves on...that's life for us moving forward.
