AP (23) / Coaches (25) Polls for Dec 1

It matters little, but still ridiculous. We literally played one game against a team that ended with a losing record (Stanford). We won 5 games aginst teams with winning records and 3 6-6 teams.

Meanwhile, Illinois won 2 games against teams with a winning record.

And don't get me started on UNLV. We literally beat them at their place.

Make it make sense.

Fran getting the team ranked in both polls at the end of the regular season in his first year is quite the accomplishment. He should be up for National Coach of the Year.
It'll probably be something ridiculous like Cignetti for all of those huge wins vs. cupcakes and mediocrity, or Clark Lea at Vandy. Did you know they beat Bama?

At least ACC coach of the year. That though will probably go to the SMU coach.

Shameful but whatever. Hopefully we can use this as motivation for the bowl game.

7pm Tuesday on ESPN.
That might be a little friendlier. I could see us at 22 or 21 there

If the voters who didn't vote for us all put us at 25, we would be ranked 22 in AP.

The gap between 23/22 and 21 is fairly large

Driving from phoenix, to Sedona and then to Flagstaff is trippy. From a geographic standpoint.
yes, desert, mountains, hot, cold, different terrains, multi-climate, I thought the same thing, we threw in a trip to the Grand Canyon north and south ridges for good measure. Very scenic and diverse environments. We stayed in Williams near the Canyon and it was 22 degrees when we woke up one morning. We drove down to Phoenix from Williams and it was 99 degrees in Phoenix when we arrived there in the afternoon. This was in May.

Coaches poll should be discontinued. It’s useless and worthless.

Why would any sport let its coaches, who have no time to watch games, determine rankings?
because the schools sports information people do it for them

I did it in July, flew into phoenix but was staying in Sedona. Went up to flagstaff a couples times but one of them was on our way to the Grand Canyon. We drove from flagstaff to the northern rim, the opposite way most people go but I wanted to check out some Native American sites and the reservation. Even in July it was pretty crazy. Driving an hour and a half from Sedona with its terrain to flagstaff and halfway through the trip it just changes from desert, brown like geography was to forests/pine trees was just wild.

We gained 89 votes for beating #6 Miami FL by 4... Illinois gained 87 votes for beating 4-8 Northwestern by 10

Current Sagarin. Our best OOC is #44. Our SOS thus far is 57th. That said, we only play one team in the current Top 36 and only two in the Top 40. Over half (7 teams) of our schedule is between 37th and 64th, a very very strong middle. The bottom is not bad either with only one team outside Top 100.

We only played one of the Top 4 ACC teams, but we only played one of the Bottom 5 ACC teams. We are 4-0 against teams ranked ahead of us. We lost to teams ranked 48th, 60th, and 97th. We are behind three G5 teams.

We are now 7th in the ACC, so top half. We are behind the Top 2 FCS teams. We are now 2nd in the Northeast!!!! and 1st in NY State. And we are now Top 50.

Northeastern P4s were pretty good. The 2nd worst was 60th and the worst 80th. The two worst P4s on our schedule were Cal and Stanford. They dragged down our SOS.

Edit
5th - 12th in the ACC we only didn't play Duke. Crazy we ran through the middle going 4-2 despite playing 4 road games.

Not a lot of teams played an OOC game vs a Top 25 team at their actual place and not some "neutral" field. Funny, Boeheim got ripped for not doing so and yet the football team does it and gets zero credit for it.
