I think you're right but I'm not as 100% certain of it as I was even this morning. But still - if Bud Selig can muddle his way through the steroids era, I think Roger will survive.

Those franchises are licenses to steal, often run by people who got rich just that way. Any movement toward threatening that status and he'll be gone just like that.

BTW, speaking of double standards, we talk about the pot suspensions, while one of the league's owners pays a $92 million fine for company fraud, and he's not even disciplined:

I still read MMQB each week for the football coverage, but his non-sports comments really turned me off. Not to hijack the thread, but King is the only person that has ever made gotten me so worked up about one his political stances that I wrote to him.

The sign to look for is an independent investigation ordered by the Executive Committee. I think if you see that it is the beginning of the end. They will use the results as rationale to fire him.

At best Roger Goodell was woefully incompetent but it's looking like he was grossly negligent. Goodall was a breath of fresh air when he took over for Tags but now he has shown he is a boob and liar. Its time for a new leader. Commissioner Goodell is worse than Gary Bettman.

This all goes back to the original decision to suspend for 2 games. Had the NFL got it right from the git go and suspended for say, 6 games, this might not have the legs it does now - even with the video. The video might simply have stifled those who might have taken the position that 6 games was too much. Now however, the video served to open the wound caused by the weak sanctions.

When the NFL could have said Ray Rice you won't be reinstated until you show us the tape as since criminal charges were filed we know your legal team has the tape. Instead Goodell and his team are playing the grossly incompetent canard over negligent card.
Sheriff Goodell gave Ben Rothlisberger 4 games in 2010 for ALLEGED rape in a bar. There was no tape of him dragging a girl AND no criminal charges were filed. Even with just the first tape and criminal charges against Rice all Rog gave him was 2 games.
Now the NFL is engaging in CYA covering your a$$es and Roger is shown me enough to want this dink to be gone. He isn't going to get my faith anymore the NFL needs a new leader.

good point on bigben too, that makes them inconsistent, or it lays out a crime depth chart ie: rape>abuse. 2 games was certainly a joke regardless.

a cover up is a problem, negligence isnt much better but is likely the better outcome for the league.
