AP Newsbreak: Source says Rice video sent to NFL

Oh there are plenty. No physical harm, but a couple of ladies over the years who would have appreciated a call back. I assume I'd have heard if I left any buns in the oven.

I don't really have sympathy for high profile athletes. I mean yeah it's a microscope but a well funded one. Between a signing bonus and one year salary, they make enough to be set for life (if they're not idiots with their money). Given the choice, I'd take the money and microscope over having to work until retirement age and guessing I got it right with the amount saved.
Agreed on the second part but while physical violence may seem to be the king of all transgressions, way more damage has been inflicted on men/women by words and actions.

Ray Rice hit his now wife but what if he is faithful? Would Janay rather have that moment or would she rather be like many other "wags" of athletes who just have to live with the reality that their husband cheats on them regularly. I don't see NOW coming to the defense of those women although I suspect far more damage has been done in those situations.

He should be gone, but Kraft, Jones, Mara, and Rooney are protecting him. Goodell lied to the American people in that CBS interview or his employees are beyond stupid. Remember he told Sean Payton "ignorance is not an excuse" and now his only defense is ignorance. He has to go now. Condi Rice would be the perfect replacement. She is a women who knows football and would get the support of the people and has the contacts to be a great Commissioner.

Does it matter if he may have lied to us? He doesn't work for us. Those you say are protecting him, are his bosses. If they want him out, he's gone. But if they are happy with him, he stays.

Honest question- why do we care more about the commish of a private sports league lying than a justice system that was ok letting him do nothing and walk? If he's on trial like he should be, this whole scenario if different. Why don't we focus on the root issues?
Because Internet talk is cheap -- and we've become a sound-bite nation.

Why do you even respond to my posts? I am not going to respond to you anymore.
The only way to get rid of Goodell is for fans to voice their displeasure with Goodell. This will get the attention of NFL sponsors. When sponsors get that fans are pissed they will want to stick it back to the NFL which extorts every last cent out of its sponsors and if the owners realize they will lose sponsorship $$$ they will lose support for Roger Goodell.
I don't care if people disagree he should lose his job or if we should care. Unless having an opinion on this board is dead I don't see anything wrong with what I have said in this thread.

That will never happen in a million years, too many people more concerned about fantasy and betting than whether Goodell lied to the public. Media loves it but most fans other than people who love to debate stuff like this are more concerned with their team, stats and gambling dollars. Until the owner's come out against Goodell he is as safe as anybody else who is employed.

I could care less what happens to Goodell but will certainly be watching Bills/ Dolphins game Sunday with zero concern for what what Goodell did or didn't do.

FedEx,Marriott, General Motors, Proctor & Gamble, Anheuser-Busch are watching this and if sponsors threaten to pull sponsorships the owners will reconsider their support for Roger Goodell.

these same types of companies didn't pull support from the world cup when there were riots in Brazil and scandal after scandal within the fifa organizers. zero chance on nfl. if we care about domestic violence, there are a million more useful places for our energy than making goodell a fall guy.

Because I didn't agree with your opinion.

Someone say you can't have an opinion?

Sony, McDonald's, Anheuser-Busch, Adidas all opened their mouths about the alleged bribery with the 2022 World Cup with Qatar and notice FIFA started their internal inquiry because of their sponsors saying something.

fifa's internal inquiry?!?! HA! goodell is the pope and mother teresa combined compared to the leadership there, that's now assessing themselves.

Sepp Blatter is worse than Roger Goodell, but that isn't shocking. You realize the FIFA investigation is being led by former US attorney Michael G arcia I honestly don't want to debate this anymore. If you feel differently than me fine, but if people want to express their opinion Goodell should be gone its their right even though the owners will probably keep him.

Come on Barrel you should know better than that. Just look what happened to Sperling/Clippers situation. Many sponsors threatened before real action took place and now some talk is starting with the NFL

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...heuser-busch-ray-rice-roger-goodell/15458555/

This is how stuff starts to spiral
except sterling was the actual bad guy in that scenario. ray rice is the bad guy in this scenario. he's a million times worse than goodell and somehow it's all getting conflated.

Only if there's a smoking gun that proves Goodell outright LIED about not seeing the video- perhaps some internal memo or several employees who can attest to it as fact. At that point it becomes about his personal integrity and not some organizational/procedural 'k up.
Absent that...Goodell isn't going anywhere. The sponsors who leave will be replaced by other sponsors and eventually they will all return. JMHO
