Attendance For Purdue

Its very hard to gauge where we're at compared to the Louisville game right now...because as far as I could tell, the additional blocks of tickets in the 300s were never even opened up for that game. This games seat map has many more ticket blocks open in the top rows...to me that seems like we'll at least have a little more than the 1st game.

They wouldn't open them up unless tickets were moving

I am flying to Tokyo Saturday morning to be at work Monday morning. I blame the 13 hour time difference on me missing this game. The only positive is that I should be able to watch the game on my flight from Dallas to Narita. I’m also in business class so the drinks will be flowing. Hopefully they don’t call for an emergency landing for the maniac in Orange raging in his cube.
That’s tough, yea u can’t throw the remote, my go to move.

Exactly, when you see a block of 10 rows of blue dots suddenly appear up high , that tells you tickets are moving.

What is it like living near Syracuse/ CNY in regard to the games being promoted? Are there like commercials on tv and the radio and stuff? There’s never anything in the Capital Region but we’re two hours away.

Nothing I noticed

I think a lot of the advertising is focused on the internet and social media, not on TV or radio.

Also, SUAD bombards people’s emails.

I’m a few hours away and I get spammed by SU sports ads.

The media stats people probably tell SU they don’t get as much bang for buck spending on TV advertising as they would on the internet.

I also get bombarded by the emails lol. So basically on the local level it’s just billboards and word of mouth then? I have seen billboards near Syracuse before.

For those of you concerned about the amount of new blue on TM -

For UL, my understanding is, the ticket office didn’t see enough demand to even open up those sections for purchase. Let alone open it up the Wednesday before.

I think its a positive sign.

Im guessing 40,800 announced, probably a legit and loud 38,000 in the stands.

What sucks is the number of resale tickets there are. You can filter just to show resale and there’s plenty.

you sell cheap season tickets and have easy re-sale tools and you will see that.. 20 years ago it was random guys on street corners and people eating tickets but no more. Not sure why locals would buy the ND package but not want to see another pretty good game.. Also why would ND fans buy season tickets unless the ND section sold out and has anyone asked that question?

This. So many of those tickets sold are up for resale on the secondary market. We will not see a sizeable bump in actually fannies from Louisville.

But it was plenty loud then.

the best hope is that if they dont get sold those people actually show up.. Also if you have a group of 4-6 there are only so many of those types of blocks up for resale. Its best if you are a single or double then you have pick choices.

It’s true. 40K is deafening when it needs to be and still allows for a little wiggle room.
And better trough penile spacing.
I run into this guy every halftime!

people are avoiding syracuse games but not nfl or other colleges that are full?

come on...
there are lots of people doing things.. but I know lots of people who are still avoiding things because of covid.. I mean look at the numbers its still way worse than last summer by 10X and is right about the same as last fall when we still had restrictions.. If people stayed away last year why not this year. and why are you assuming stadiums are full all over. When you have a crowd like SU thats skews really old it can be a factor . Says its 10% staying away , thats 3K.

if you are the Bills and have 50k of seats and the demand is 100K and 10% stay away its still full.. If you are SU and have 50K and the demand is 35K and 10% stay away its a big difference.. And thats the same all over. if you are selling out LSU games and 10% stay away it still fills up.

There is still a minimal Covid effect but #s on spectator events are much closer to normal from Theme Parks to concerts to sporting events. I don’t believe it’s a big factor at all.

Very few of those other venues are enclosed.

So, yeah - there may well be some people who are still leery about going to the Dome, given the crowds in the concourses and whatnot.

My discussions with our AD say it is, but its likely a where you are thing.. Remember attendance to fball has been going down for almost 10 years across the board .

declining attendance

It’s not way worse than last summer, come on. While cases may be higher, the number of deaths has plummeted. Along with the number of hospitalizations and severe cases. The WHO is about to lift the pandemic emergency declaration. NY lifted it earlier this week. I don’t see Covid as one of the main reasons for lower attendance. Keep WINNING and the people will come.
