I don’t often post here to share my thoughts, but I’ve been a Cuse fan for the past ~ 20 years (and member of this board for the past 12). Due to my own football and life getting in the way, this past weekend was my first time getting down to the dome to attend a game.

I used the bait and switch of a golf weekend at Turning Stone to drag three other buddies down to upstate New York, and we had a fabulous time.

Stopped at Destiny on the way in Friday to grab some orange garb for the three potential Cuse fans. Even my Michigan die hard friend was a sport and donned some Orange (although we made him wear khakis on his lower half to show he was still really a Michigan Man). That’s a hell of a mall you guys have.

Afterwards, we stopped by Dinosaur BBQ and were not disappointed at all - the food definitely lived up to the hype. I guess the staff enjoyed the novelty of our Canadian “accents” and general shenanigans, as we were shown some great Syracuse hospitality with a few rounds on the house.

Went to play a quick nine once we got to the resort, and the great first impressions of upstate NY hospitality continued with our green fees being waived.

Despite our best efforts Friday evening, we were awake and fresh by 8 am Saturday and on the road back to Syracuse.

Had the pleasure of attending the SyraCruz tailgate Saturday morning and had an excellent time. Got to introduce myself to Texanmark, Cuseregular, Cusenewbie, and a few other board members (not sure how to tag posters either). Would have likely met more of you, but you can only be met with so many blank stares when asking people what their “message board handle is” before you stop asking. Us internet message board nerds should be forced to wear insignias, dunce caps, or some other identifying accessory.

Won’t discuss the disappointing loss on the field (or myriad reasons why it happened), but we sat in 244, had excellent lines of site, and the dome atmosphere was incredible.

Got to play Kaluhyat Sunday and Shenandoah this morning. Those are some beautiful (and challenging) golf courses. My one friend was able to shoot an 83 on Kaluhyat and didn’t shut up about it.

Everyone left the resort winners at the casino, and the great hospitality we experienced Friday definitely carried over all the way through the weekend.

All of my friends had an amazing time, and we are already discussing bringing down a group of 8-12 people for another game next fall. I look forward to meeting more of you at the tailgate at the time.

Still optimistic about a solid season for us, and I’m not looking to cash out my Cuse ACC championship bet just yet.

Go Orange!

Sounds like an awesome long weekend!

Can't go wrong at Turning Stone but if you guys decide to stay closer to 'Cuse next year we have a lot of great courses within 15-20 minutes of the Dome...Green Lakes, Camillus, and Links @ Erie Village just to name a few...

Thanks for the suggestions! Always interested in playing new courses. Will definitely check these out once we get next year’s schedule and start planning.

This post made me feel suspiciously refreshed. Thanks.

This is a great post! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Steve let us know which game you want to attend next year. We loved having all the Canadians at the tailgate. OburgOrange was jealous he wasn't the only Canadian there.

Thanks Mark. Will definitely be reaching out once we have next years schedule.

Dude I cannot imagine a more perfect weekend than what you guys just did! Glad it all worked out so well and the weather cooperated.

Can’t tell you how nice it was to meet you and chat it up for a bit, glad you were able to hang and enjoy it all with us. You are welcome anytime my friend!

Likewise. Was an absolute pleasure.

I was also one ticket off winning the 50/50 (which if I remember correctly, you won. I was rounding out my bakers dozen of PBRs and Blues when the draw happened, so the memory is a little hazy).

Until next year!

Yeah if you won the $500...it instantly becomes 700 loonies

steve deberg we also do a few away games.

I assume you guys will be at West Point next year. Would be a great bucket list location for a game, but would mean an ~ 8 hour drive (or we’d need to fly) instead of ~ 4 hours for my crew.

Hoping we get another “marquee” opponent in the dome for late September/ early October. Would likely be the easiest sell and logistics for a crew of 8-12.

And I would have expected all $700 loonies that day, given the 30+ Canadians in attendance.

I believe the home non conf are just Ohio, holy cross, and UConn unfortunately

But we do get Miami and FSU at home

Yea it looks like we’ll have Uconn on either the 7th or 14th of September (with one of those dates then being open for a conference game).

FSU and Miami are definitely the two games I have my eye on. Hopefully we get one of them in early/ mid October.

Expect that schedule to get all sorts of twisted with the addition of SMU, Stanford and Cal

The UConn game is likely going to be played in November. And it will likely be in East Hartford.

I expect Syracuse is going to play two ACC games in September. One at home and one on the road, to be played on 9/7 and 9/14. Though we have to play a Friday home night game each season and the September game could be that game...

JR is right. The ACC opponents we thought we were going to play are going to change a bit. But unless there is a major change with the OOC games, I would expect us to play 2 ACC opponents in September.

Where are you driving from? And don’t say Canada.
