Before we totally freak out...

I see you've reverted to your trye negative self. If your boy Marrone had recruited one decent qb they wouldn't have been in this mess. Almost every good player on this team was recruited in the pastv2 years.

Ya and I guarantee my boy Marrone wouldn't have called that timeout at the end of the game.

I was just wondering was CMU in the MAC last year when we stomped them on the road? I know the MAC is a good conference, but Syracuse had no reason not to put that team away today at home up 2 scores. Even with the offensive injuries the defense should have picked them up.

I think that you are stating to lose perspective. We are a young thin team to begin with. True frosh RS all over the field. Give some credit man we played our hearts out and found a way to win. This team and staff deserve a ton of credit and by the way the Chips are a pretty good football team
Starting...? People that are experts are never satisfied.

lol What is that suppose to mean? What does that have to do with the quality of MAC teams year in and year out?
Because we have a barrage of posters pointing out other teams struggling with smaller schools. Who cares!? We've sucked for the past decade. I'd rather focus on ourselves and not try to invoke the past National Champion to make ourselves feel better. Does anyone really feel better that tOSU is struggling with Northern Illinois? I don't.

You must be one of those "season ticket" holders...

I live in Atlanta but flew up for ND last year and watched us get dismantled by Ga Tech 2 years ago.

I don't know why anyone would want to get season tickets to Syracuse Football though. Seriously, aside from fierce loyalty, why would anyone want to buy season tix to this team, with this coach and this style?

Today was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from this team. It showed how embarrassingly far off we are from competing on a serious level. I don't expect us to ball out with these injuries but I do expect competence and a higher than High School Varsity level performance.

I wouldn't because nobody ever calls a TO in that situation.

If you were watching carefully, the CMU side was calling to spike the ball. SU was expecting that and was trying to take time off the clock by going slow to the line. When it became apparent they were going to run a play, the defense wasn't ready. I was more upset the defense didn't get in place.

I was really impressed by the team in the first half. Second half? It scared me @#$%less. Dungey is the heart and soul of the offense. Somebody is going to have to step up when he's out, or there will be problems.

If it was us playing Ohio st in a one possession game with 3 mins left. That would make you feel good about us right?

Also, sorry for my douchy post. Still keyed up from the game. Doesn't help that my wife is watching it on DVR right now.

Someone needs to explain this to me...Wilson comes in and does a decent job in the 1st half. SU gets an onside kick and great field position and Mahoney comes out for 3 plays. Wilson comes back in and the 1st play call is a deep throw to Cornelius...not a good throw on Wilson's part, but what is the point of doing that.

I also didn't like getting the ball after the fumble and running a jet sweep and 2 passes to go 3 and out and punt. Run between the tackles.

When they lost Dungey the game completely changed. You have no idea why that timeout was called. Why don't you find out before you judge. There good have been a very good reason for it

Which of those guys would have tackled Hcss so that he doesn't call that to or punts that ball? Which of those guys plays safety better than a peewee leaguer? Which of those guys would prevent the cmu oline from owning the los and our lbs from leaving their tight ends open all day long?
So go for it at mid field with an offense that didn't have a first down until overtime, thus giving a short field to an offense that was carving us up. Oh yeah...way smart. Long field equals more plays and more opportunities for stops and turnovers. You're a brainiac, just like Anomander, and Longislandcuse

Not a brainiac, we're just posters who want a Top 25 program. I'm shocked at how many people are fine with garbage football.

Disclaimer, ever since I moved to SEC country I've become more and more disgusted with our football status and how it's fallen off. Maybe it's a cultural/geographic thing.

Last year's game was an anomaly for both teams.

Yeah. I kinda do. And I'll follow the Chips in their conference and won't be surprised by them going bowling and winning it again. Or Cooper Rush sniffing the NFL.

Fierce-loyalty = definition of CFB fandom

With Dungey, there's massive improvement over last year. When he's out, not so much. Wilson could be a good QB; his reads are really suspect, though. Got the tools, not the vision, it seems.

We get it, CMU is a borderline Top 10 team, I'm not worried about playing a tough game against them. We went from looking like a real, legit, ACC team with Dungey to a team that could barely compete in D-2. It should never be THAT dramatic. We went soft on defense and Bullough was outsmarted and out coached left and right. The offense completely went into a shell and basically waived the white flag. Two out of nowhere pass plays we call are a bomb off a turnover with a QB who barely ever threw the ball and some kind of trick screen at our own goal line!? Punting from CMU territory when we needed one yard to end it and our defense couldn't stop anyone. The timeout... THE TIMEOUT!!!?? Are you kidding me!? Why do casual fans seem to have more common sense than our Head Coach!?

You're wrong in both counts. Watch the replay. Cordy and whigham were lost. Had to call TO. Two uncovered receivers. Cordy waving his arms at the sidelines. Total confusion. Pint was the right call to. We had like 10 yards offense. No guarantee we get it. They were slicing our defense. Rather make them go 90 vs 55.
