BTW, if you haven't noticed, Cohen is gone

Pretty sure most of us saw this coming. Glad the P-S did the right thing.

EDIT: Cohen has a video up on the P-S website on Nov. 25. Is this a recent decision? Or is he maybe on vacation?

a vacation now?

a vacation now?

Permanent vacation?

No clue but he's still on Twitter and still has "Syracuse football writer" in his brief bio.

He wrote some articles after the Pitt game. I don't think he's gone.

Looks like Carlson, Mink, and Axe going forward.
this hasn't been out of spite or anything and it could just be me but i just don't read the post standard articles anymore. just doesn't occur to me

I get my Syracuse football news from the Albany paper. Can't beat it.

Do you know that Cohen is gone or just guessing from the lack of production from him the past few days? He's still in the staff listing at syracuse.com and during the football chat they published someone making a vaguely anti-Semitic comment about him - so I'd say he still has a job.

Cohen has some good skills, some of his articles are outstanding but he just needs more seasoning (maturation).

The guys here read the Post-Standard. At least a majority of them. There is no other news outlet for SU sports.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. I'll stop by there and then see how many articles I want to catch up on. But it's not part of my daily routine anymore. Sundays especially, I rarely think to read their recaps.

Most people don't read game stories and recaps anymore. Papers are getting away from them, with the the thought that most people already know the score and what happened. I think many people just don't read papers anymore. They get their news from a variety of sources, including forums like this.

My point is if not for the Post-Standard, there wouldn't be any coverage of SU sports. And if there wasn't any coverage of SU sports, the people here who DO read the paper wouldn't have much news to pass along here.

I'd hate to be relying on what some guy from Cicero observed at a game as my only source of news.

Michael Cohen, one of our Syracuse University football writers, has accepted a position at another newspaper and is leaving the Syracuse Media Group effective Friday.

Cohen took a job as a sports enterprise reporter at The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn., where he will write about Southeastern Conference football, University of Memphis basketball and football, and the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA.

Good for him, Memphis >Syracuse

Hope they have better editors. Needs to trim the overwritten dreck out of his pieces.

Thank freaking god, now I can actually visit the PS articles without worrying about giving Ratboy clicks.

Sports enterprise reporter. Perfect for him.

He wasn't going to be here long. Too talented.

Sounds like he got a real nice promotion. Good for him.
