Buddy will be in the NBA

Give him some time. He will get stronger and quicker. Probably not NBA quality but certainly College BB quality. Reminds me a little of Ron Baker who came in unheralded, played on a strong team, got better over the years and made a couple of NBA rosters for short stints.

I think Buddy is going to be a great college player but if Malachai couldn't last in the NBA and Andy Rautins couldn't even get a cup of coffee there, I'm not sure Buddy has an NBA future.

Who knows... maybe he spends the summer working out with Babers and Edinger who turn him into a lean, mean, explosive athlete along being an amazing shooter and we revisit the conversation.

The other thing I'll say about Buddy is that he needs time to get his shot off, much like Malachai... Not sure that will play well in the NBA. I also want to see him coming off back screens and catch and release action like we used to run for Cooney and GMAC and Andy.

I'm just waiting to read about our new transfer that gets an emergency waiver to be eligible immediately because he needs to be closer to home because his father getting older. Ithaca is just too long a haul sometimes.

At this rate, per an article I read, buddy could be 6’10 by the end of his sophomore year. We are doomed.

He is about to lead the ACC in 3 pt shooting % and he is only a frosh. He could well end up holding some impressive records. What skill beyond 3 pt shooting did Steve Kerr have?
Curious where you get this from? Granted BB has greatly improved. I love the kid! His 3PT % is going to continue to rise this year. But he is currently 30th in the ACC among players that take an average of 2 3PT per game or more. VPI & UVA each have 3 or 4 guys taking more and making a higher % than Buddy. Let's not go all crazy on Buddy to the point where if he averages 10 pts per game next year people are disappointed in him. I look forward to the next 3 years with Buddy on the team and by his senior year he will be a very good ACC player.

Just counting ACC games, I assume. PS article said if he had enough made threes (one short), he'd lead the ACC.

Steve Kerr is one of top 5 best shooters in history in terms of strictly shooting the basketball .. he was also a much better ball handler and athlete .. this is a joke right ?
I saw Kerr play in college. He was not a better athlete or ball handler. When anyone came close to him he passed like the ball was a hot potato. I've never seen anything like it before or since. Buddy is making 30 3 pt shots in a row in practice. I would not be surprised if we see some impressive shooting from him. He shoots 3 pointers as if they are foul shots.

Just for fun I looked up Steve Kerr' s freshman stats. He averaged 11 ppg on 51% shooting (the 3 point line did not exist at the time).

Buddy is averaging 5 ppg on 36% shooting by comparison.

For the record, I believe Buddy probably could have played in the NBA in the 80s when the game was much slower paced and nobody knew how to guard shooters. Neither he nor Steve Kerr would make it in today's NBA, however. Steve Kerr has said the same btw, not about Buddy obviously, but about himself.
In ACC play Buddy is shooting over 40% from the 3.

Not as good of an athlete as JJ. Not even close. (People on here used to claim GMac was a better prospect than JJ. SMH) Tall white does not mean similar player.

Reddick made it too and stuck in the NBA because he is a lights out shooter. I guess my point was that that's how Buddy would make it also.

I am using ACC figures. He is about to lead the ACC in ACC 3 pt. shooting %. That is impressive. It seems that most people do not realize his potential.
JJR is a great athlete. Kerr was not. Kerr is right in observing that the NBA has improved. His success was due to MJ. Some team might offer similar opportunity for another lights out shooter.

Buddy has some major work to do. If his athleticism ticks up I would not be surprised if he makes the NBA. We should not be surprised to see some record breaking 3 pt shooting. I'm surprised that everyone is so skeptical.

Cup of coffee- Almost certainly will. Long career who knows.

Gerry regressed at shooting the three ball as his career went on. Sure he might have improved in some areas but that is what was going to get him to the league if he shot it as a senior like he did as a freshman he plays in the league. Don't be shocked if 2019 ACC play is the high water mark for Buddy's shooting it happens with those kind of players. If he shoots it around 50% for 3 years after this he'll go 1st round. If hes up and down who knows. But he'll get a chance.

There is a certain intangible teams look for in fringe roster players that works in Buddy's favor and how scrubs like Nick Collison and Doug McDermott hang around rosters for a decade.

I'm not sure who first brought Steve Kerr up but he's a decent comparison. Kerr had been athletic but his knee injuries reduced him to playing on one leg. He was nothing but a 3 pt shooter off the bench. Kerr played 15 years in the NBA, never averaged 9 ppg, started a total of 30 games, 20 of them in a season in hell (I mean Cleveland, sorry). 45.4% 3FG% is very impressive though. It's amazing Kerr played as long as he did
