Buffalo Bills 2021 Thread

The red zone offense is fixable.

The OL can improve with Brown gaining experience and Dawkins (hopefully) getting himself back in shape over the course of the season.

I don’t know that we can just say “DL needs to get more pressure”. They are what they are, and the McBeane approach so far brings very mixed results with that unit. We have a deep rotation of average-above average linemen, but no real game-wrecker. Some games they wreak havoc, others they seem nonexistent. Tons of investment into this group and the ROI hasn’t really been there tbh.

Best hope for the DL is Oliver is a late bloomer (doubtful) or Rousseau becomes a game changer. No clue why our last two second round picks are inactive. Frustrating…
I think the thing that frustrates me the most about the DL is that we have invested so much draft capital there over the last three years. Good for cap flexibility but as you correctly note, no game changer...

I think yesterday was a down day for the DL, they played better against the Chiefs and in the weeks prior. Not to mention Jerry got held a couple times and they missed a questionable hold on the King Henry TD run.

What I'm concerned about was how close the LBs and S were playing to the LOS in the 2nd half. The Titans shifted to using PA and lit us up. Frazier has gotta adjust better and take away the middle of the field, especially since Julio was out

Yea, that was absolutely inexcusable to KEEP giving up those PA plays… pick a struggle. You can’t keep getting worked in the run game and still not cover their one big WR.

That’s where I’m at too. If we invested elsewhere and had these results, well… it is what it is.

We are sacrificing in places like LG (which is killing us) because instead of using a first or second rounder on a G, we drafted two pass rushers… and used our first pick (second round) last year to do the same. First pick the year before that on a DT. Paid big money to another DT (the only one earning his pay - Star).

As I said I saw the first half, and settling for early FGs, the Henry run with the holds, the downfield PI/catch on third and 8, the Allen tip pick. A lot of flukiness where it just felt like the game was going to end similarly. Exactly what happened.

I didn’t see the replay of the third down run by Allen but my buddies also thought he got it and wondered why no review.

What hurts is that Oliver has been a miss at this point, probably borderline bust if were being honest. Hughes at the end of his career and Rosseau is a kid. Frazier while being a good D coordinator is not a blitzing guy (for the most part) and we do a horrible job disguising blitzes and will stick with rushing 4 even if were getting picked apart.

He seemed just short based on the replay and where the ball was pinned to his body. Real time it looked like he got it. It was really close. Was surprised they just changed it like that.

Yea, Oliver isn’t bad, but he’s not someone anyone needs to game-plan for.

Way too much money and draft capital tied up on a DL that’s average some days, above average others. Especially when everyone saw IOL as an issue last year and we said nah fam, run it back. I love our FO but that was a blind spot. They couldn’t have foreseen Dawkins getting hospitalized for covid, but they knew Feliciano struggled at LG and Ford was trending towards bust. The entire left side is a disaster so far and Morse, while a decent player, struggles against powerful DT’s and that’s exacerbated when the two dudes to his left are on the ground half the game and our RT is a rookie who will have some growing pains.

I think the Bills D line is a bunch of solid players but no real pass rusher or sack specialist. Maybe Rosseau AJ, Basham can get there. They have a bunch of them that are just OK other than Star but not his job. McDermott has become a d line hoarder really almost obsessed with having numbers, they have spent a ton of money and draft capital. He's like that college coach with 8 qb's on his roster

Oliver has been just OK and that's probably being nice.

Not gonna lie, this would be pretty sick. I'm sure all of the southtowns politicians would do everything possible to stop it from happening, although it's probably cost-prohibitive anyway:

I see "extended light rail". Well that ride would be pretty lit on gameday.

Ideally the Metro rail would be extended out to the airport, but that would definitely need big time federal dollars to get done. I'd imagine it would be like the bus ride from skytop to the Dome x100.

Looks like quite undertaking in downtown Buffalo. I still think they build next to the existing stadium and demo the Rich when done.

Wouldnt hate getting another play making TE in here. Could be Engram, maybe Hurst. Our Offense looks great in 11 personnel with Knox, and Allen has shown he’ll use athletic TE’s to stretch the field.

Problem is tailgating will suffer if moved downtown as you'll have all sorts of separate pay lots/garages. Pretty certain the Pegulas want it built next to current location in OP. It will probably be much cheaper to build in OP too.

Tailgating will suffer for sure, but there are other pregame options that can be just as fun. Went to a Browns Bills game in Cleveland a number of years back and the pregame scene downtown was a ton of fun.

Now here’s an outside the box one:

don‘t hate this idea but I’m not real familiar with the area, but it sounds like a complete overhaul of the area. would be a decent compromise but like most believe I think it gets built next door to the old one

Agreed, too bad cause I'd love to see the Central Terminal revitalized. That location would help push for further improving public transportation (Metrorail expanion, etc.) but a lot of people would be forced out to build it, which is why it won't happen.
