Yeah, at best he's a real piece of garbage. At worst he should probably get taken off the earth by the girl's dad. Either way I don't expect him to be a Bill by the end of the day.

The older I get… and the closer my own daughter gets to adolescence, the more zero tolerance I have. Unfortunately the word consensual will come in to play at some point here… but I thought there were laws about being sober enough to give consent?

It's funny how nearly every time a story like this is reported, the team has already known about it for weeks. Now they will "fully investigate."

This isn't a knock on the Bills. I feel like it is true for every team, and how they will only do the right thing after it becomes public.

There absolutely is as the age of consent is 18 in California and I don't think they have a Romeo & Juliet law (not that it would apply in this case anyway).

Under CA law she was too young to give consent, alcohol or not.

Ultimately this was the right call to release him imho. Don't need the distraction. I do wonder if this presents an opportunity to improve the background checks on draft prospects. Sure you're not going to uncover everything, especially with so many players out there, but might be something to look into.

Well according to the Bills statement they were made aware of the allegations previous to the suit and investigated. I would assume they feel the allegations are false if hes still here.

Age of consent is a strict liability criminal offense. That means it doesn't matter what he thought or was told. (That's the law, but not necessarily how a jury might call it.).
However, this is a civil case and I am uncertain whether or not there could be a defense of fraud (she said she was 18) or mistake (they carded everyone at the party, so he assumed she was 18.).
My gut is he is liable on the face of it ( there is almost a summary judgment against him based upon what appears to be an admission on the phone call). The issue would be damages. ( For instance, she lied about her age to sleep with a FB player, then alleged rape. Jury might give her very few dollars.)

Well, with no criminal charges being filed on what appears to be a slam dunk statutory rape case, there maybe some real questions as to what really happened. There must be something that is unknown to the public that gave the police pause.

Like others have said he needed to go, hopefully to prison if he's found guilty.
