I think we do grasp that. For instance a few weeks before the portal opened…someone was arguing that recruiting doesn’t matter anymore. Which is only partially true. If a kid has the same bid from both schools, he’s going to choose the superior program…unless Gerry can build something and close on top prospects.

What is happening instead is Gerry is building a solid (not great, but defintely better defensively and offensively better than last years team) to get into the tourney and will spend big next year. I keep saying that but if people in the know are accurate we haven’t spent nearly as much money as we were projected to have. We need consistent NCAA bids, crawl before you walk and they will come.

When Lobdell did that interview with SportsTalk radio (or whatever it is called) he seemed less confident in this year than I expected. I have no specific quotes, but that's how the interview read to me. He seemed to be preaching patience, but it didn't seem like a "this portal is going to be great" patience. More of an "it will take time to rebuild" type of patience.

To be fair there’s like 10 other Cuse2020’s here and you don’t post alot. You were also pretty positive earlier today and this week about centers.

Now it’s doom and gloom. No one expects you to give tons of info but you also said freeman wasnt even our staffs top choice right?

He also said they were raising a cushion above what had been reported publicly. I still think we have a chunk of change to add two pieces, but no clue who that would be outside of Freeman.

Right now Auburn has two guys pending not confirmed staying and two other 6-8 stretch 4 types they are targeting after adding a recent center commit. Plus a C they have big plans for expected back from injury in July.

Leading or not the playing time situation is likely far different there than here…

Dual is not necessarily better than George offensively.
As bad as George was with all the turnovers, he still shot over 80% from the line. You could play him at the end of games.

If you leave out last season, Dual's FT shooting is not much better than JJ's first 3 years of college - 2 years in the 60s, 1 in the 70s.

Just because we have a new coach doesn’t mean we should brush off the fact we aren’t landing any top players. I hope to be wrong but it seems like we can’t compete at all. This portal class isn’t mid to upper p4 quality. Nil era is going to drive the final nail in the Su basketball coffin

Well, we already did sign 2 guys who look pretty decent at Center.

So it's not like Boeheim missed on his only serious PG prospect late in the window, and we wound up with scraps.

There is at least cover at center, just like Fran has cover this year at QB if Angeli goes down again.
