C William Kyle (NE) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (3/27/25)

He looks like 230-240. He definitely throws his body around like he’s heavier.
Yes, he is also listed at 230 on the UCLA website.

He only weighs 215, and his best year was 1.6 blocks against the Summit League. We need a guy who weighs at least 240-250 for the other center.
I was surprised he was listed so small… Kyle seems to play much bigger than that.

I look at Kyle as a replacement for Naheem. I think this is clearly an upgrade. Significantly more athletic and coordinated.

This is under the assumption he’s our backup center. If he’s our starting center is probably a downgrade over Lamp.
Definitely way more athletic than both. We have to see him in games before we can properly assess him, especially since he was injured last season as well. Highlight videos make everyone look good.

Yeah, that's my thing too. He definitely looks the part - but he could have stone hands, or commit fouls every 8 seconds, or pass like a dufus. Who knows. From his highlight reel all I can say for sure is that he can THUNDERDUNK, block some shots, and looks pretty fluid/athletic. That checks a lot of boxes though for me! :)

Ideally, he could be like Okpara is for Tennessee. A solid frame, tall, and with pretty significant ups. On a team playing with tempo and a good PG, he could do well (like Okpara) - but again, still a lot of unknowns.

Nevertheless, seems like a great addition to me.

I, for one, am pretty excited to see how Cabiles + Mario & Salvo’s enhances his physique while he’s under the tutelage of renowned big man guru Allen Griffin.

Agree a good pg could help make Kyle look good. Okpara isn’t the most skilled basketball player but is really athletic and Ziegler really sets him up with easy shots at the rim.

Um!? Am I late to the party here? do these guys play for Syracuse University? Does everyone wear a jersey with a 3 in it? Wouldnt the angle of the guy holding the stack of pizzas result in a flop? or a charge? Is the stack of boxes hiding a stripper? Who are these people? Why do these supposed basketball players look like pro weightlifters? I am totally in the dark, I know it and I like it.
However, dude second from left #3 go figure...He is jacked, has very concerning teeth, lips, eyes and total face & is from Sytzuse.
After another look i am concerned for all of their faces. Except for #13 to the right over their...he is closest to fine besides his left hand that lacks fingers and his right hand that turns into a leg.

I am reminded of the Whitaker family from West Virginia while observing this pic.
Whitaker family documentary is a real look into the depths of humanity right here in the USA. Who knew they were burning all those couches just to keep warm? & knöw 1 säw nutn

Maybe getting Kyle from the portal would imply that HC AD is looking to implement a fast paced running offense. Or one could only hope.

Until we are Cuse again, we have to overpay for what we want...

Imagine if your exwife wanted to get married to you again. Would you do it for $5,000? No. Would you do it for $500,000? Yes, if it was just for a year.

PS I wouldnt marry my ex for a minute for $1,000,000

PPS I obviously have other crap going on today :)
Been there, had those thoughts. Good luck!

AI at it's best. Or at it's worst.

One of the things that’s been abundantly evident the past few years. The lack of athletes. This helps in that department. It would be even better if this is a guy we are bringing off the bench. Time will tell

This is exactly what I keep coming back to. We can't seem to put 5 athletes on the court at the same time these last few years and forget about the role guys off the bench. No one is saying we shouldn't have won more games or developed a few guys better or got them stronger. It's just that every year we have pieces missing either in the back court or the front court. Never a complete team.

If anyone watched Auburn for most of the game yesterday all you need is freakish athletes and just let them do whatever they want. They can make dumb play after dumb play on offense and have a bricklaying competition all they want. When they outrebound a 5 seed by 15, 19-10 on the offensive boards you're gonna win by double digits regardless of what else happens.

There are some great athletes on Fran Brown's team, and should only get better. I would bet they would hold their own 3 on 3 or 5 on 5, especially when I look at their combo numbers for jumping, speed and strength.

I really like the pick up. The majority of these sweet 16 teams have multiple bigs who can switch on defense, contain their man and play effective help D. Obviously, would love to have a Jesse Edwards (or Patrick Ngongba) in the post every year, but upgrading our ability to play fast and defend, could go a long way in improving our chances of success. He is a high level defender (Summit League DPOY and Tournament MVP) that stays on his feet, and could help Freeman grow on that side of the court. Obviously just one piece of the puzzle, but an important one I think. One more big needed.

Also, I think the hope would be that we could bring both he and Sadiq White off the bench as high energy defenders who could play big minutes situationally (that’s my hope anyway).

Another video of Kyle at UCLA. This one has many of the same highlights, but includes whole possessions, sometimes on the defensive end as well.

Maybe I forgot what good basketball looks like, but I can’t imagine why he got so few minutes at UCLA. Maybe the coach just values 3 point shooting instead of dunks?
