The only guppy around here is you and your trolling.
He should change his handle to SkankHunt44.

Talking about Walter Alston, You don't know who he was , right Phil. Don't bother looking it up. Not important.
There was no edit. You didn't read the post I was responding toNice edit lol

The old baseball player that played before the invention of color TV that dude?
That's kind of where I'm at, too.
JB himself has gone on record after stepping down that he didn't adapt certain parts of his system toward the end to align with the modern college game. He was also an exponentially better X's and O's coach than anyone on his coaching tree. Even so, the results tangibly slipped at the end, over a multi-year span. Despite that, they made a continuity hire because some BoT members and prominent donors wanted to hang onto the past.
And Red flopped, trying to admittedly do different stuff than JB, but with disastrous results on both sides of the ball.
And now a subset of the BoT and donors are pushing Hopkins, even though he showed poor systems on both sides of the ball at UW.
At some point, when are we going to stop trying to do the same things and hope for a different result? What is the hang up with just hiring the best coach we can, instead of constraining ourselves -- ESPECIALLY when the internal candidates are all lacking, to various degrees?
And I think you probably meant it in jest -- but if prominent alums have set their sights on Hop after the Red debacle, then it stands to reason that Gerry would be their NEXT "solution."
This program desperately needs an infusion of new blood / new ideas. Not marching out the same 'ol same 'ol to see if shiz sticks against the wall this time.
I call it Red’s toxic positivityI think part of Red's problem is he doesn't seem to have command of the team. It's like he's not 'really' in charge.
With JB you knew who was in charge. There were no BS substitution patterns. By and large he would play kids who were hot or limited mistakes or made the right plays, he would ask Jack kids who were not. There wasn't much charity. Hence the term boeheimed.
( I'm sure the haters will bring up all the exceptions but this is how it was the majority of the time spanning his career not just some of the crap we saw the last few years with a couple chosen ones.)
Anyhow Red is soft and comes across as a pushover and I think it shows in the effort we see from his team.
I didn't pick you for anything; I made a general comment. If you want to go after Matt, go for it.if you are going to criticize anyone, you pick me for correctly showing that success isn't always immediate? in any landscape or any era.
instead of picking the morons (not just IthacaMatt FYI) who think a national search somehow means a better chance of wins?
it isnt that hard to grasp.
Any concerns or thoughts on Hodgson having 0 HS recruits committed in this 26 class at USF?
He did fine scrambling to put together a roster last off season but a little surprised he has nothing at this point.
One of the best responses EVERBecause we're at the point where doing the right thing and going outside the family for the best hire possible is FINALLY here.
So doing the wrong thing again to keep it in the family requires extra-stupid measures, like a massive money and NIL bag to justify hiring an in-house, poor candidate... also, they think they can sell that to the fans.
Totally agreeI think part of Red's problem is he doesn't seem to have command of the team. It's like he's not 'really' in charge.
