Just please don’t go after gmac. Make a clean break from the old guard. I don’t care about how Sienna is doing
This is interesting. The recruits signed on to play for Red, but also for Syracuse. If they also see what we see—poor results, bad execution, mind boggling ‘strategy,’ why wouldn’t they welcome a better coach? They would rescind and go where? To other teams that also recruited them? There isn’t that much of an allegiance to Red, as they wouldn’t just go to the next team that Red is associated with. Suppose Red gets fired after this season (I know the reasons why this isn’t likely, but suppose), and he gets hired to be an assistant somewhere else. White and Anthony aren’t going to follow him unless they still believe in him for some reason and Red gets picked up by a team that thinks he could deliver those players. Longshots, all, no?Red will be here next year due to the recruiting class. However, I’m assuming Grif gets the axe this year.
Next year will be the make or break year for Red. NCAAT or we move in another direction.
Strongly disagree with Langel if that's where you're going with this. Colgate to Cuse is far too big of a jump if Cuse wants to actually act like a bigtime program. There are other candidates out there that have demonstrated the coaching acumen and recruiting prowess at the P5 level, which are both needed. We’ve got the perfect candidate about 30 miles from Syracuse
There’s other coaches that would have us 9-1 in our current situation. The money situation could be better, but we need to be honest that the coaching has been awful from the defense to the rotation. It seems that some ITK have been hinting the problem is not football ... it's the school's decision to underfund the basketball program purposely.
I.e. We're now willing float the boat for one (but not both programs) adequately, and we all know where the bread is buttered...
If that's true, then that's something that's not easily remedied with just a new b-ball coach.
It's also likely that top D1 coaching candidates (and their agents) will know about the busing to games, the broken treadmills in melo center, etc.
It's not exactly an enticing job under these circumstances if we're purposely underfunding the program to be less competitive.
Nate Oats came out of Buffalo. Is Buffalo to Alabama a smaller leap?Strongly disagree with Langel if that's where you're going with this. Speedy Claxton, Shaheen Holloway, Matt LangelWho should JW realistically look at?
Probably looking hard at mid major HCs is my guess. Too risky to take an assistant and too cheap to lure away a big name coach.
Did you happen to watch Colgate play at Kentucky this week? Even though they were completely outmanned and playing without their starting center, they had a lead in the second half. You can see how they scheme to get their three point shooters open, and they box out every time. We could do far worse than Matt LangelStrongly disagree with Langel if that's where you're going with this. do you not remember the dumpster fire that was Cuse b-ball before Melo got on campus in 2002? Deshaun Williams punching the girl that was Otto at the bar.Why would Melo and his wife want Kiyan part of this dumpster fire?
Can't see Melo wanting his son to hear boo's being on a bad team, and if things don't get a lot better and Red is still here that's going to happen next year.
People need to get over this “far too big of a jump” thing . We aren’t getting a proven P5 coach to come here. So our best options are either a P5 assistant (who most likely has no HC experience) or a proven mid major coach. Give me the proven guy, let him hire a great recruiter, and we will be sailingStrongly disagree with Langel if that's where you're going with this. Oats was much more of a complete candidate than Langel, especially on the recruiting front.Nate Oats came out of Buffalo. Is Buffalo to Alabama a smaller leap?
Been here for quite a while during the slide. If you are going to make a change and it isn’t Red, it would fall on the assistant that’s been here for a long time who hasn’t been productive. Why would you think that about Griffin?
We also could have done worse than Red. The point is that we don't have to settle for marginal options. Again.Did you happen to watch Colgate play at Kentucky this week? Not to be mean but I want no part of any coach who spent the entirety of their career with JB.Bottom Line Red is bad. We hired the wrong assistant. And for all you Boeheim haters, you are getting what you wished for.

I am at that point to where we need to just go outsidethe family and get a fresh look. Only one I’d like is Gmac but he is still green. Problem is, is there anyone out there that would make a splash coming in?Not to be mean but I want no part of any coach who spent the entirety of their career with JB.
If that is true, fire wildhack too because that is really stupidI don't know. It's usually, and I hate to say this and I'm not saying it to hurt you but it is usually 5 years.
Not saying I wished him to fail. B it’s just clear he is over his head.We were getting a Boeheim assistant regardless and no one wished Red would fail.
Learn though from the football side that the outsider needs to bring his new perspective, but not isolate the history and basketball alumni. Not to be mean but I want no part of any coach who spent the entirety of their career with JB.
How many years did A.D, Millhouse give him? Remember, other schools use it against you when the coach is on a short contract. If that is true, fire wildhack too because that is really stupid
Red didn't. He coached under Seth Greenberg. Not to be mean but I want no part of any coach who spent the entirety of their career with JB.
