They already knew that you were collateral damage.Count me as another who won't renew season tickets if it's Hop
(I'm moving and wasn't renewing anyway but don't let the BoT know that)

I can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop. This includes nba players, local guys and a few that have never donated to cuse ever before. The plan is to front load that money for the first 2 years to immediately become relevant. But that’s what the deal is for Hop from Melo.
Speculating here, but they win immediately. More ticket sales, easier to fundraise when winning and the trend continues down the road.
Better off starting an NIL fund with that much money than using it all at once. And after Kiyan departs -- what then?
This sounds like a short-term influx, not a long-term sustainable set of NIL funds.
Too bad we can’t have this with Hodgson or Schertz. So what happens in 2 years when that money is gone and not coming in anymore?I can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop. What is the style of play being sold? That's really the only thing that means anything.Speculating here, but they win immediately. More ticket sales, easier to fundraise when winning and the trend continues down the road.
I wasn't excited when Hop's name was first brought up but if Melo can drum up this kind of scratch for the program...it's worth listening.I can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop. That wouldn't be their reason though. Their reason, if I can speak for the BOT, would be that the answer is a boatload of Nil and he can do that. And he can do that without having us have to pay 2.6 million on a buyout. I have to do a disclaimer now that this isn't my thoughts but what I am thinking the BOT would say.I'm not getting pre-mad, but if it is Hop, what's the point of giving another dollar to SU? It was a good run. Wonderful memories, but it would be about as clear a move that we're waiving the white flag and surrendering ever being good again. And if we can't compete, I get it, that's the world we're in now, but I have finite time and resources.
Well, I think we would all agree that the talent level he has is not even in the same stratosphere as SU.I think if people looked at who Siena has beaten this year, instead of just the overall W-L record, it would paint things differently in terms of how GMac would be seen as a candidate.
Not in love with the idea of hiring two retreads who failed at their last jobs. Not to mention Hop with Lykes as an AD who we know mishandles funding…
If the ties to the money was Hopkins is the coach then I would pass.
Wes might be the least plugged in national media guy.Wes Durham likes the idea of GMac as the next guy. Have at it.
Does the money also tie us to allowing Kiyan to shoot 15 FGA/game?
Bad head coach, an inefficient volume shooter that won't be able to be benched (also awful on defense) and back to the 2-3 zone.
$30M may as well be lit on fire.

Doty could succeed at SU, but that is about it.
I think most who have actually watched GMAC coach this year would agree that he seems to have the goods to be a good coach. He makes in game changes, his teams play hard and fight and his team actually seems to have an identity. Watch his press conferences - he actually sounds like a head coach.
I also think if you make Red the head coach at Siena there is no way Siena would be sniffing 20 wins, be second in their conference only two years removed from having 4 wins and finishing last in their conference.

Its interesting that they are willing to pay Hop less and maybe fewer years on the contract (speculating) but gave Autry 5 years for his deal when he had no leverage. Mike doesnt have much leverage fwiw and just selling himself to the loan sharksThat wouldn't be their reason though. That’ll be great, you can probably get into the tournament with 15M rosters but what happens after that money is gone? Hopefully the school will think about thatI can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop. Well, we also didn't have near the money that we are talking about now. Now, I think we could have had two to three times the money we had this year and Red couldn't coach them. One thing about having a ton of dough. There is no need to hire a recruiter as an ass't. The money takes care of that. His ass'ts should only be a d coach and a o coach and a bench coach.Well, we spent a lot of money this year, and got better players than we've had the year before. But it didn't matter because the coaching was subpar.
What you are describing sounds more like fantasy than reality, if Hop can't coach them up. And there are many reasons to suspect that he won't be able to -- his systems on both sides of the ball at UW sucked, and his offense was terrible.
Sounds like doing the same exact thing that failed miserably this year, and hoping for a different result. Only with a bit more $$$ being laid out.
Exactly, that $30M in NIL would have to be enticing for Schertz. Or any big name coach honestly.Correct, no matter what is said, that is coming with playing time and being featured attached no way it is not.
My thing is if Melo and the alumni really want what is best for Syracuse basketball, take the 30 million and get the best coaching staff on the market. That is how you would really make long term impact for Syracuse basketball and your son's NBA future. For 30 million, they can use that money to pull successful P4 coaches away so do that instead.
Stop yelling!Although Hop is not my top choice, to say he would continue to to be a failed HC is bogus; let his interview speak to to to the search committee and see how this plays out.
Why couldn’t he do this for whoever is coaching?I can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop.
