Colgate Postgame

You can't get rid of Red this year with the recruiting class he has coming in. You can make him fire an assistant or hire a consultant.

Yup he will get year 3 100% because Melo will want his kid to play for him but this looks like a disaster. I hope he turns it around but right now Red doesn't look like a head coach

Red won 20 games last year. Lets see how the season goes. The actual upside is we have a big and a guard with a ton of ceiling to hit (agree a few others out there aren't up to snuff).

Assuming Kiyan is coming Red ain't going.

His recruiting has been pretty good I'd actually say really good despite a few frustrating misses. That said there's a big push for this program to get back to the tourney. This team going backwards from last year (and potentially significantly so) is gonna be a major issue for the Administration and Reds job status. Kiyans a nice player, but his coming to SU isn't gonna be impacted if Reds here or not.

We spent more on an out of shape center than St John's did for Kadary Richmond.

He'll be laughing all the way to Fast Eddie's Dry Rub cooler wondering how he got all that money.

You sure? Thought Kadary was a 7 figure guy and Eddie a little more than half that.

And he got 15-12-5 tonight. Not his fault they tried to throw him an alley oop.

Our defense stinks and needs to get better. I completely agree with that part.

Most of that class liked Red but what they really like is SU overall and out importantly the $$$ NIL deals that have been offered/promised. You can be the coach and 90% are still coming

Unfortunately I do. Red won't survive a non tourney season much less .500 or worse. The natives are beyond restless and 4 straight years of no tourney isn't gonna fly.
I think he gets another year regardless. I can't imagine this would help with Melos son. Who I already think is beyond over hyped here. This is some hard times.

Eddie was good tonight.

Of course there is a big push...and it would take something really untowards to knock a guy out who won 20 last year with that mishmash roster.

I like Kiyan, think he's coming and will be a good player. That said to many people think we're getting Carmelo part 2 and their setting themselves up for disappointment.

Yeah. I was waiting for this. I love if he’s coming. I’ll be rooting my head off for him. I don’t know if his play matches the rating.

I dont think I am going to rewatch the game this time but the use of Freeman is bizarre. If I remember correctly we threw it to him twice on the block and he scored both times and then despite constantly feeding the ball to Lampkin and Davis we didn't continue to feed Freeman in the post. He can clearly score down there and is aggressive kind of strange we didn't keep going to him.

Hey, at least we have a nutrition guy and analytics guy, now

Thought the final number was around 600k for Kadary.

Eddie's counting stats were great, he was absolutely sloppy though, he was a major reason they had 20+ transition points and Woodward absolutely worked him the last 10 minutes of the game when he actually played. Woodward's 4th is the only reason we won.

It certainly looks like the staff has zero idea how to coach defense. Theres also little effort on that end.

The rotation needs to be cut down a ton. Some of the veterans might have to give way to Moore and the Maestro.

I think the point is the first two games point to exactly that. Being in a 40 min knife fight with Lemoyne and Colgate and a defense that would make Greg Robinson blush doesn't scream 20 wins much less a bubble tourney team.

I get why he’s pulling Freeman because he isn’t defending, etc.

but how can Red sit there and play Carlos for 30 mins and look and stare Freeman in the face and tell him to play better D

Red needs to tell this young man to work his game inside out. Freemen settles for fallaways and threes to easy. If he would post up more often, he’d get the ball. He spends too much time on the perimeter.

If he tells him that, will Donnie destroy urinals?

Duke has three top 10 picks in The Athletic's mock draft today. Jon Scheyer or Wojo or any other guy on the Duke tree would have to try hard to screw that up. Same with Kansas. Red won 20 games last year, never know it reading this board.
Wow! Twenty games, you say! Impressive.
